Crimson Lionheart Bright Heart KillStreak Prince of the night ~Alliance News Network Special Report~ It has been a week since the detonation of the Crucible and the end of the Reaper War. We have won, but not without loss. Estimated death toll is in the two hundred billions and is expected to go up as more bodies are found. The Mass Relays are not functioning, and even the Galaxy's greatest minds are stumped at how to fix them. However, through all this death and destruction, a shining beacon of hope has emerged. Human Systems Alliance Commander Jane Shepard, the hero who united all the races together against the Reapers, previously presumed dead, was found alive in the wreckage of the Crucible. She is receiving medical attention at Assistance Publique Hôpitaux de Paris, one of the few remaining hospitals on Earth after the Reaper attack. The crew of her ship, the Normandy SR-2, has yet to be found. Romeaus pulled the remote to the television over to him with his biotics, and turned off the TV. He was currently being treated for the broken arm he got during the final assault on the Citadel. He got up, put on his sling, and went outside. All the buildings were still kind of trashy, but at least there wasn't any fires. One of the his friends from the Cabal beckoned him over. "Hey Romeaus! We're about to deal out in Poker, want to join us?" "Eh, sure. Why not?" He said in his gruff voice. He pulled up a chair, and sat at the table. There were a variety of faces here at the table. A couple humans, three turians, a quarian, krogan and a batarian.
Atara was completely in her lonesome, levitating herself in meditation. She closed her eyes and allowed herself to be at peace, something that has rarely happened during the Reaper War that had left untold billions dead. The war had taken a toll on her, and pretty much everybody else who lived during the time when the threat of complete galactic omnicide was a real thing. She did fortunately have friends in high places, which made all of her efforts in rebuilding a broken galaxy all the more easier, but the damages the Mass Relays and the Citadel took would severely slow things down for a while. It would take time, but who knew how long? Atara's meditations was interrupted with the sound of a door opening as an incredibly young Alliance solider, possibly just reaching maturity, came through. He stood still for a moment, unsure if he had accidentally interrupted Atara's meditation before getting on with his assessment. "Ms T'loris, your presence is requested at the Academy in Rio. We have a shuttle outside." "Thank you, I'll be there in a moment." Atara replied. "Were you told about who requires me?" "I have no idea, ma'am. I believe this is N7 business however, which means that it is heavily classified. I'm sure that you will know more when you get there." Atara nodded in response before standing up as a few items flew into a crate, which contained her signature sidearms and some spare clothing. Her armor was already inside of the crate, she figured that she wouldn't have had much time to spend where she was, especially since she was always moved about from place to place. Within the next ten minutes, the Asari and her belongings were loaded onto the shuttle as it took of to Rio de Janeiro, and towards the Academy.
Sarah was already at the academy in Ri since she decided that Rio was a nice place to rest and relax now that the war was over. She thought that she deserved at least a few weeks holiday after the stress she had undertaken and so spent some time at beach parties (one of which where she made out with a Krogan due to being completely drunk) and nightclubs. However duty called and so she switched out her red minidress for her N7 armour and formal N7 dress. She stood in the main lounge as she waited for others to turn up
After an hour long shuttle flight, Atara T'loris arrived at the The Interplanetary Combatives Academy in Rio, infamously called "N-School" or "the villa" for short. The entire academy was dominated by human operatives, considering it was an Alliance and Human thing. Although in recent years, the Academy had been allowing non-human operatives into it's forces if they've displayed the skill, although they are very few in number. When they encountered Atara and her small group of vigilantes, the Asari actually outperformed the entire Platoon of N7 Operatives that had almost fallen victim to the Reapers. They still have a hell of a dept to pay to her though, although she insisted that no reward was necessary. She was immediately offered a position to join the forces, and wanting to help the galaxy and win the war, accepted without hesitation. Now here she was, back where it all began. She could have taken any position she wanted, from training the new operatives to being a senior figure in the Academy. She only wanted one position however, and that was to simply be an operative. She hoped off the shuttle as her stuff was taken to her room in the Academy. The Asari in white clothing took a deep breath of the air around her and headed towards the Academy, eager to hear what she was summoned for.
"Allright, i think this is getting somewhere." Airen said to a human that had some schematics and blueprints of the mass relays. Airen was the one in charge in repairing the Charon Relay since the battle on earth finished, and had been working on it non-stop since then. He was in Rio working with scientists and engineers of different species in order to fix the Relays in the labs and anywhere they could test their theories on how to repair them. "Hey, Airen..." A turian called him "... some operatives are here for the briefing, and it will start shortly. You should go with them, they also wanted your help." "Thank you, I will go as soon I finish this." He said without looking at him. He was working in his omni-tool in finishing some tests on the Mass Relays. "I think I got it..." He finally said, then he went to the main lounge for the briefing.
Atara found herself in the center of the academy, which looked surprisingly luxurious yet also defendable. She looked at slowly before sitting of a sofa nearby a water fountain that acted as the centrepiece of the entire main lobby.
Romeaus' Omni-Tool lit up, and vibrated. "Hold on guys, I have to take this call." Romeaus tapped his omni-tool, and a large screen appeared in front of Romeaus. It was Admiral Hackett. "Hackett! To what do I owe the pleasure?" "I believe you trained in Rio with th N7s. They're announcing something big there. Thought you might want to hear it. I've prepared a shuttle for you, it's at the London Space Port. Directions have been transmitted to your Omni-Tool"
Atara patiently waited in the lobby while a couple more new operatives soon arrived. It was starting to get crowded now, whatever she came here for wasn't just a small prep talk. Something huge was going to go down, and she could have a major role in what could go down. She stood up and waited along with the rest of the operatives.
Sarah felt she needed to introduce herself to the others. She decided to approach Atara and began to speak. "Hi, I'm Sarah Lawrence, I was part of the N7 team on the SSV Bosworth. I'm guessing you're Atara. I believe we worked together on Eden Prime after Shepherd extracted that Prothean."
Airen was aside of a some hi-rank officers that were getting ready to explain everything to the operatives, one of them was friend of him. They were talking and when they got to the lobby they saw all the operatives. Slowly the room was getting crowded. "This one is going to be big no?" Airen asked. "Yes, with what you discovered, we might be able to start helping the rest of the galaxy. That's why we need all the help we can get right now." A human was counting the amount of people in the room, then went with the officers. "Almost everyone is here. We are missing a few soldiers only, and one operative." "We will wait for him, we need everyone here, at least the operatives." Airen's friend said. He went with the rest of the officers, while Airen just stood there, watching the room.
On top of a rubble pile, there sat a lone human. This... *sigh* was Damion, a mercenary. He had fought in the war, but did n;t help much for every time he would get to the scene, all survivors were dead and he was left with goon squad of reapers. Damion wore his casual clothing, yet, he was covered in some blood from helping people with medical situations, whether he would help hold them down, or whether he would put them out of their misery, Damion did not care one bit. He wanted the damn creatures off the planet, Reapers, he hated them, even though his hate for other mercenaries had decreased, he hated both of them equally. "Hey, you gonna help or what?" A Krogan (How ever it is spelled) yelled as he was trying to help someone out of a pile of rubble. Damion jumped down and rushed to his side, helping the person out, he then looked to the Krogan, "Alright, on three." "Yeah yeah I know!" He said agitated, this was Feral, or so his name was, a friend that Damion made during the beginning of the war. They were really good friends, although they would try to poison each other, or they would try to find ways to kill each other, a competition to see who would last the longest. "One... Two..." And like that, they both lifted at the same time. "Go, get him out now, I can't hold this for long." Damion said trying to hold up the piece of building. The Krogan grabbed the other human and pulled him out, Damion dropping the rubble as soon as the body was out. He panted a little, stretching his arms and feeling the heaviness in them, "That hurt like hell." "Come on, we gotta get him to a hospital or something." "I think I saw a medical tent east of here, its not far." Damion and Feral helped the human up, helping him to the medical tent, although this was gonna be a long walk.
Romeaus had arrived in Rio about an hour after getting on the shuttle. When he walked inside the N7 Academy, he was surprised at how little this place was damaged compared to the rest of Earth. You'd think the Reapers would target it first. The facilities were also much more lavish than what he had seen during his time at the Academy. HE shifted through the crowd to get a good view of the podium.
"Everyone is here." A human said to the officers. "We can start now." One of them said. All the officers gathered at the podium and one of them got into it. Airen was with them. The officer looked around the room and then started speaking. "Is good to see you here. As everyone knows, since the Reaper invasion we have been working non-stop to rebuild everything they have taken from us. Although is been hard to do it, we had made grate advances. The rebuilding of earth had been going quite well, we expect to finish earlier than we expected thanks to the help of everyone, but still is way from over. But here comes the important, this is something we had kept in secret to the media. We manage to make the relay to work." As he said that, many people on the room started talking to each other, but they quickly stopped as he officer continued to talk. "Yes, we manage to make it work, but is not completely fixed. We can only send small ships every 2 hours. That's the motive we gather you here. We will be assigning missions to everyone to help the rest of the galaxy. Any questions?" The officer finally said.
"Hello, Ms Lawrence. I believe we did work together for that mission. Forgive me if my memory has been slightly off balance. It's been a long trip here." Atara told Sarah before listening to the information about the Mass Relays. It was progress. Sure, only small ships can go back and forth, but it was still progress. She listened patiently as more information was gathered around the operations, which she felt were going to affect her considering her importance nowadays in the Academy.
Immediately, many Omni-Tools lit up. "We have just sent most of you your orders!" Barked the officer. Romeaus tapped his tool, and a screen appeared. He scrolled through the executive stuff to get to his assignment and partners. "Assignment: Weed out any remaining Cerberus forces, and assist victims of their actions in any way possible. Partners: Lieutenant Commander Sarah Lawrence, Atara T'loris." Under their names were pictures. "An Asari and Human Biotic, eh?"
"No worries if you can' remember it all. It looks like we will be working together for a longer period of time. An Asari and Slayer working together, Cerberus wont know what hit 'em. Well they will probably know what hit 'em before they die or surrender, that thing being a powerful biotic blast by you followed by being sliced by my biotic's charged blade." She said with a smile. "Anyway shall we head out to the shuttles now or wait for the others to get their assignments?"
"I suppose that is us already done, so there might be no need for us to wait around. We should go." Atara replied before noticing a couple of shuttles were parked on a giant grass oval. She had the feeling that one of them was theirs, but they didn't know which ship the shuttle is taking them to.
"Well, Only one way to see which of them is for us." Sarah said before heading to the shuttles and asking one of the shuttle pilots which was for them. Entering the furthest left one once she had gotten an answer.
Airen was heading to the shuttles, he was cheking his omni-tool on some schematics. "What team goes in this one?" he asked to the pilot. He checked on the screen. "Someone called Romeaus, also an Asari and a Human. This is the first team going out." The pilot quickly answered "Thank you." Airen said. He used his omni-tool and asinged himself this squad. "they are the first one out, I must see how this goes." He said as he was going out.
Romeaus had gotten to the shuttle landing, and hopped in his shuttle, seeing Atara and Sarah. "So." Said Romeaus, trying to start a conversation, as the Shuttle took off. "What kind of biotics do you ladies have?"
