Didn't the site have an award like this at one point? Why did it stop being a thing? It should be a thing.
While I know I wasn't present for this, it kinda does sound like it would contradict the motto of the forum. I do understand people do like to see who would get popularity and praise. It would certainly be nice to have the lime light for a while, but it kinda would undermine everyone else. I agree with Xan here. The Community Praise Thread is more reasonable.
I am also against this idea, it would make the winners feel better / the otheres non-better, and thus contradicts "everypony is somepony", as suddenly only the winners are somepony
It could work if it was structured a little different. like a pony of the month and it was recognizing specific things.
Eh, I still don't like the idea. I still feel like it'll make it unfair for other members. Especially "the best new member" one.
How would we even define "new" members? I still think of RD9k and TRP as new, and they have more posts than I do.
I'm reasonably convinced that no one here has their head that far up their own ass. "I'm better than you because a bunch of people voted in a silly poll" isn't something I can picture anyone here saying or thinking.
The reason this is no longer a thing is that I have been the winner every year since then, and I'm too modest to display it on my profile. Sorry guys. I don't intend to stop winning regardless so don't expect it for a while.
Not sure if I should nominate myself, one of the banned members, or one of the members who have been erased from history entirely. It's not like either of the three are likely to win, so it doesn't really matter, but it would definitely be a good census of who knows their esoteric lore.
