I was just browsing YouTube to see if there was any new talk about bronies and I came across this video. Just was curious to know what your opinions are.

On the whole, I'd say it was pretty well done. This video didn't give off the feel that they were bashing us like the media does. Although from what I understand even some of their facts aren't straight. I'll admit, the first impression of this video was a bad one when they started off with saying about pastimes that "tap into what it means to be a girl." Although, I'm guessing it was just meant to be humorous. However, this video seems to repeat the notion that it was designed for little girls. Now, I may not be the most informed individual around, but wasn't the show actually designed for both children and their parents (both male and female)? So, from that end, it seems only logical that even those adult males without children, myself included, would like it.

I think the best part of this video was the interview with Scribus. He seems like a pretty awesome brony and his reasons for liking the show are probably similar to many of ours. I know it's similar to my own. I like the show for the animation, the characters, the plot (the real plot, not that "plot", lol), and it doesn't give off an overall girly feeling. Also, I must say I really love the community as well. You guys rock! Woohoo!

    Some other points of interest:

    • I thought it was funny when she was talking to the kids about "gender politics."

    • I don't like how they put Teletubbies in there. That just didn't make sense to me. I can't imagine how that's even comparable.

    • As for the psychoanalysis, although interesting, I personally thought they were overanalyzing it.

Anyway, at the end did she say, "do you want me to teach you how to skin your horse?" o_O Well, I think I'll pass on that one.

So... What are your thoughts on this?

    ...The media bashes us?

I must be reeeaaally out of tune with the news.

I find the post hilarious being that just a few hours I was in a HUGE argument (which mostly consisted of my valid facts and another's petty insults and opinions) in which we THOROUGHLY discussed the relevance of "designed/intended for" within the end result. He also brought up Teletubbies on several occasions, trying to compare them, saying Teletubbies was better because it was intended for both genders

I'm glad in the video that they ended it with basically saying it shouldn't really be weird and how people have their own interests.

Felt like they didn't really put much effort into figuring out the attracting factor. Just seemed like "Hrrrrrrmmmmm, wat u think attractive?" "Drrr, I dunno" "OKYA THE END!!!"

And lolz, I wonder if they did horse-skinning to show a lack of... erm, total "femininity" on purpose to remain (possibly offensively) within the subject. :p

Personally, I find it ammusing that people try to analyse a fandom.

In the end, what is a fandom but a collection of like minded individuals, the fellowship of whom finds a focus in a specific object, in this case, a show?

Even if MLP:FIM is designed for little girls, which it may or may not be, what do I care? I like the show, and honestly don't care what or who it was made for. If someone DOES care who the show was made for and judges based on that, then that's that person's problem for not seeing past their veneer of insecurity.

All in all, I lol'd after the scripted brony interview.

I didn't really like the video honestly. I didn't think the brony made any attempt to defend his position he was just aloof about if. Also Teletebbies wtf. They should have mentioned Spongebob and Lauren Faust and the fact that the show was designed so that parents could watch the show with their kids. I'm waiting for a good Brony documentary to send to my friends and this is definitely not it.

They should have mentioned the voice acting that didn't speak down to their audience like they were stupid. They should have mentioned that other then the colors and occasional dress episode, it isn't actually over the top girly. I think someone who knows what they are talking about should make a documentary.

and guess what? It just so happens my first assignment in my Film & Television course this semester is to make a documentary. Wow I should not let that opportunity go to waste.

Wow the first video like this I've seen without them calling bronies pedos, man children, and a ton of other negative things. I personally love to find out the reason behind why certain group loves or hates a particular thing such as music, shows, and movies.

Teletubbies really there're going to compare it to that, why not power puff girls, fosters home or cartoons like that.

I not impressed with the interview, he should have had more time to explain about characters or maybe have gone into the plot.

The show is awesome and the fandom behind just makes it all that much better.

It's good for a brony video but it's still a long way from praising!

At least it wasn't a buttload of "ZOMG GHEYFEGS PEDOS FBFJFIWOKS" and other stupidity.

Also, for God's sakes, not all bronies are 18+.
Why has this not been explained to anyone yet?

Because that would erase the other false "fact" that all bronies quit their jobs to watch MLP?
