Okay, so I finally came up with an idea for another roleplay. I know there've been other asylum roleplays, but this one will be...different. -evil grin- Anyhow, so here's the story. You are a group of about three or four ponies who are adventuring/travelling/wandering (I could have more, but that's the ideal number). You have been friends for about a week after meeting in a restaurant a few towns ago, and you all decided to travel together. While you are walking along the road, you come across a sign that says "Compos Mentis Insanity Asylum". One of you recognizes the name as being a famous phsychologist, and recall that he was supposed to live in this area. A suggestion is made that you go and visit the place, and after some discussion, you all agree that it would be an interesting adventure. (Story starts here) Whadda you think? Also, I'm going to add one more VERY IMPORTANT THING. For those of you who played in my other RP, you may have noticed that things like "Intelligence" didn't get used a lot. Well now I'm changing that. I had this idea earlier, I just forgot to mention it. At any time, you can test Intelligence -5, +2 for each "clue" that you have, and if you pass, you get the answer to the problem. The rolls will all be hidden in this one, so I'll explain how that works. Say you're trying to figure out something like "Is this person a friend or an enemy". You use your Perception to get clues over time, and then eventually you can try to figure it out. Unfortunately, it is a double edged sword, as you can only try and figure something out once, and if you fail the test, I'll give you the wrong answer, and you won't know. For all of you who weren't in my Everfree Cults Roleplay, I used this system to determine stats: Eight stats, 40 points, no more than 9 points per stat, no less than 1. If you wanted to move a big rock from in front of a cave, you would test strength. Say your strength stat is 6. I would roll a die, and if you roll 6 or less out of 10, you pass and move the rock. If you don't pass, you can't move the rock. And you can't just try again; you already tried, and you already couldn't move it. Now say the rock is covered in...uh, I dunno, slime. You would likely get a -1 or -2 to your strength, because it's harder to push when it's slippery. But if you had some sort of item to wash the slime off or give yourself some grip...well, you get the idea. As I said above, all rolls will be hidden this game. And also, it will be IMPERATIVE that you only "know" what your pony knows. In fact, information that is not for everypony will be in spoilers with certain ponies' names on them, and it would probably be best if you didn't look at them if they aren't yours. Because, you know, that leads to making decisions you otherwise would not make. Now, after that big, complicated rant, any sign-ups/questions?
This looks interesting and I’ve been looking for an RP to put my main OC in since I just finished him a couple days ago. I also haven’t used stats before but I’m a fast learner so I should be fine. Consider me interested.
I was in the Everfree Cults roleplay, and I'm excited to see this new idea you had to replace it. Sounds like the potential for some interesting scenarios. One possibility to consider about getting information to only those who need it while keeping others from seeing it (or being tempted from peeking) is to use PMs.
Doesn't seem very popular...at least not if my other RP was anything to judge by. For some reason I posted "Three or Four" up there, I was thinking more "Five or Six". Don't know what I was thinking... I think I'll send out a few PMs to make sure that everypony I specifically wanted to see this sees it (besides you two, of course), then I'll decide what to do from there. ^^
Sure. I'd like to join in. I did notice that there are bits glossed over. Like the sudden decision to just sweep into the asylem for what could be an autograph and a chinwag. Although, that could be concocted later with the characters put forwards. I'm curious about whether to throw in a pre-made character or not. Either Professor Follia or Tyro would be good as potentially interesting specimins for and overzealous doctor. Tyro's supposed to be over a century old so would naturally have some screws loose while I don't think I've written Follia's reckless side quite enough yet. So far, he's been preoccupide with the current events of the RP he's currently in. What do we think?
Yeaaaah, I should probably fix that, eh? The story has that hole that Tyro mentioned, but I could fix that by adding a NPC who is interested in Psycology or something. He'd be the one who would have heard about Dr. Mentis' "revolutionary methods" and, having never met him before, wants to talk to him personally. Because that's why he's famous; his revolutionary methods. I'll mention exactly what those are when (and if) it starts. As for characters, I don't care. But you will need to think up stats for them either way. Here you go, the guide to the stats: I won't be showing dice checks, though. It's more fun that way. :3

Lol I'll make an RP section as soon as everypony who showed interest has a character or decides against playing.
