So if My Little Pony Yuri? Or is it Furry? Or both? Or neither?
...The show is neither of these. Fans idea's may be such, but it's just a little girl's show. I don't think those sort of ideas even really cross their minds beyond the quick gag.
Neither, and is this thread really needed? There are many art styles within the MLP community. You seem to be focusing on only 2. Why? I have no idea.
neither is a fetish. Furry just means anthropomorphic art: animals given human characteristics and vice versa. Yuri on the other hand is girl-girl love and considering that the males are outnumbered 8 to one by females and they seem to pair off in relationships, someone must be in on that. That or a lot more than Rarity are dating outside the species.
I voted Neigh. They are not anthropomorphic and there are no canon yuri relationships in the show. Those two are the products of fanart and fanfiction.
Oh, come on, guys, that's hardly fair. Even if you don't feel that way about the MLP cast, it doesn't mean that others aren't allowed to. Moreover, they have the right to post such a question on this forum without purposeful derailment.
Plus the strong negative remarks made over it prove that the people here have not only considered the question but have strong emotions tied to it. Hey it may be one sided, but you can't tell me that Twilight doesn't have hugely strong feelings for Celestia.
She does, but it's just a platonic student-teacher kind of relationship. She admires the princess, yes, but it has no other further implications in the show. That's where fanon comes into play and where this discussion ends.
Right... so she wanted to spend all night with her at the Gala, jumps for joy whenever she's even thinking about her let alone going to see her, and gets psychotic at the mere thought of disappointing her... over a platonic relationship. My mistake. I clearly read too much into it.
Is that really a foreign concept to you? I've had times when I've wanted to spend the night alone at a relative's house because I haven't seen them in a long time, yet it's clearly nothing more than that. Furthermore, Twilight is very studious and punctual and doesn't want to disappoint her teacher. There is no denying that she is really fond of Celestia, but I assure you, in terms of canon, it's just platonic admiration and respect. Twilight is just very, very, very serious when it comes to completing the tasks Celestia sets forth for her; her studies, her letters, etc. I mean, we saw how crazy she got in Lesson Zero when it came to sending a letter on-time. That doesn't necessarily imply that there's "something else" going on. She just takes it very seriously. Perhaps too seriously, but Celestia is royalty after all. I doubt anypony would want to disappoint her, but since Twilight has a more personal connection because she's being taught by Celestia personally, it'd only make sense that she'd take it even more seriously than others. She did want to spend time alone with Celestia at the Gala, but to talk about the things she learned. Nothing else. She said that herself, "We will talk all about magic and what I've learned and seen." She just wanted to have a one-on-one conversation for once as opposed to sending letters. Celestia is a busy alicorn after all, and a one-on-one conversation probably doesn't occur very often, mostly because that's just not possible. If they are anything more than just student and teacher, then I'd say they're just good friends. So yeah, you are right, you are reading into it too much.
*Snicker* Do you have a problem with any of the girls in this show being gay? Keeping in mind that the ponies tend to pair off when in love (see their parents) yet the girls seem to outnumber the males 8-2 If for example they paired two of the girls off would you mind that? And what are your thoughts on Gilda and Rainbow Dash?
Uhm....ePONY's got it right actually. Trying to insinuate that Twilight's feelings for Celestia must be romantic is something akin to saying that the relationship between brothers or soldiers who feel strongly about one another after getting home from the battlefield is romantic in nature. You can feel and care about someone deeply without it being romantic. Love is not a single spectrum concept.
Not at all, but come on. Let's be realistic here. Keep in mind the targeted demographic for this show. Do you really think they'd introduce a concept like that into it? The couples we've seen have all been heterosexual couples thus far; • Mr. and Mrs. Cake. • Twilight's parents. • Rarity's parents. • Pinkie Pie's parents. Even crushes have been heterosexual, such as Rarity's former crush on Prince Blueblood, and Spike's on Rarity. Spoiler: Even from the leaked episode The CMCs tried to pair Cheerilee and Big Macintosh, another straight couple. Also, we saw that Caramel was paired with a mare. Another straight couple. I understand what you're trying to imply. You're using the gender statistics to justify your claim. Fair enough. If they paired off two girls, would I mind? Personally, no. I wouldn't mind at all actually. Heck, you can pair two guys and I personally wouldn't care. However, do you think that the writers are really going to go for that? Considering the current views that many people possess about same-sex relationships, they most certainly won't. I don't have any thoughts really. They used to be friends, and now they're not anymore after the events that transpired in Griffon the Brush-Off.
