Ok, so basically Vinyl Scratch has had about 5 seconds of screen time throughout season 1, and there's no mention of her appearing in season 2 as far as i know. We can also tell that this character was the catalyst for much, if not ALL, of the ponified songs and remixes. What do you think this fandom would have been without those 5 seconds? Your mind is full of fudge now? I'd think so! :derpe:
Seriously? No different. Sure, some songs might not have been made but I don't think it would've been a huge loss.
I think the fact that a DJ pony appeared in the series sparked alot of interest for pony remixes. In fact, most of it started with a Youtube meme about making DJ Pon-3 spinning various different songs.
The electronic music would have taken a slight hit I assume. Also think about Octavia, she didn't have a lot of screen time. I few music tracks might not have been made without her as well.
I honestly doubt it'd be that different. There might be a few lesser MLP:FIM fanclubs related to her and fanart of her, and a different pony can be used for music I guess. But that would be about it.
Vinyl......... Maybe just appear 5 seconds, but she is Incredible!!! yes, I think that Vinyl was one of the things that make the great compositors make songs, principal the electronic and rock XD. many of the backgrounds ponys really hit, even when they only appear 5 seconds XD, thats just Great!!!
Some of the background characters have had a major impact on the fanbase, if not the show itself. Where would we be without Derpy? Lyra? Octavia? Maybe the show wouldn't have changed much, but think of all the fanart, memes, music and other related media that never would have existed. It just wouldn't be the same.
Pony music would've existed with or without Vinyl Scratch, Vinyl Scratch just gave people an image to work with. We don't need a visual cue from the show of electronic music to be inspired to make electronic music of it.
Everything in MLP:FiM happened because it had to happen, without that one variable of Vinyl Scratch who knows what the outcome would have been.

Well, she wouldn't be my (now) top favorite pony in the show, that's for sure, despite her only appearing for five seconds.
To be honest, it really annoys me that some ponies such as Vinyl Scratch and Derpy Hooves have so much popularity. I don't mind people having interest, or even obsession in background ponies, it's just that some people seem to just latch onto the popularity of them, and don't have any reason for liking them other than the fact that other people like them. I would say that it would be nice if the character of Vinyl Scratch was developed more during season 2, but really, what is there to develop? Vinyl Scratch does her job. She scratches some vinyl for a few frames.
I honestly have no opinions on Vinyl Scratch. She's even more fanon created than Derpy. I don't fully understand why people genuinely talk about her character as if she's really cool, because she had 5 seconds of screen time and no dialogue. Even Derpy had more than that. I'm not bashing people who do like her, and I'm definitely not saying they shouldn't, it's just something I don't understand.
