(@Crimson Lionheart itbegins.jpg) Boredom. This one word was the perfect description for being employed at SETI. The facility's whole purpose was to locate extraterrestrial life, but so far... nothing. Well, unless you counted the Wow signal from the Sagittarius constellation in 1977, but since natural origin was not ruled out, no one knew for sure. Little did they know... ---- "CRAP!!" Circuit Breaker had never been a fan of taking the bus to high school, what with other students' obnoxious behavior. These were a vocal minority and a reality of high school life, but he would give anything to be able to get there on time without relying on public transportation anyway. He had been known to oversleep on many occasions, and today was such a day, as the bus drove away from the stop right when he reached it. He thought about running to catch up with it, but he realized that the last guy who pulled that off would later be bitten by a radioactive spider that gave him superpowers, so he reluctantly asked his girlfriend, Rainbow Dash, to give him a lift.
An old black car pulled up at the Pie Residence, engine running as a lonesome teen sat in the drivers seat. Crimson Lionheart patiently waited to drive his girlfriend to school. The only reason as of late of why she didn't take the bus was beyond him, seeing how her sisters usually take it. Soon, the Pink haired girl ran out of the door happily and opened the door. "Heya Crim!" She said before pecking him on the cheek. "Mind if we get to School early today? I'm helping Principal Celestial organise something" Crim nodded. "I would get you there earlier but the Main Street is getting repaired since that water pipe burst, remember?" The Pink Haired girl, appropriately named Pinkie Pie, looked down in disappointment. "Oh....darn" Crim just smiled. "Although...I can pick up Sunset and the others as well and we can get there at normal time? Maybe even head for a breakfast run?" Pinkie': expression suddenly cheered up. "Yeah! Totally!" Soon, the black car soon started to drive off. Merely moments after the car left, it seemed the person watching him shook his head and closed the blind.
"You overslept AGAIN?" admonished Rainbow Dash over the phone, "Dude... this is the seventh time this month!" "You know I have trouble sleeping..." replied Circuit with a sigh. "Well, you need to work on it! Take some melatonin or something!" Circuit merely sighed again. "Look, Crim's going to get the other girls and I to take them to breakfast at the burger joint, so I'll call him and let him know about this. But I can't cover your ass forever, Circuit, so try not to do this again!" "Right," said Circuit. After hanging up, Circuit was slightly relieved. At least Rainbow Dash didn't have to pick him up this time.
While driving, Crim's phone started to buzz in the cup holder. Since he obviously couldn't answer it, his eyes glanced at Pinkie's, who knew instantly to pick it up. In the backseat was Sunset Shimmer and Fluttershy. There was only room for one more. "Hello! This is Pinkie Pie! I'm on Crim's phone, he can't answer right now" Pinkie happily told the person on the other end. "Hey Pinkie, it's Rainbow" The multicoloured haired girl spoke. "Listen, Ci- "Circuit overslept again and now you aren't letting me know that you'd be late before school?" Crim said on the other side of the car. "I....ugh....yes" Raimbow told him annoyed. "
"Well, there's only room for one more of us, and it was gonna be Twili--" "Pinkie... Circuit needs a sense of urgency, and I can't always pick up his slack, so you'll have to pick him up for me," said Rainbow Dash as she got into her car, "Besides, I promised Rarity and AJ I'd give them a lift."
"Can't do that Rainbow, I'm maybe a street away from Twilight's" Crim said on the other end of the line. "Looks like you'll just have to pick up Circuit.....Go easy on him"
Rainbow Dash barely suppressed a four-letter word before sighing. "Okay, I'll pick him up," she said, "but I can't promise I'll be easy on him..." ---- "Get in," said Rainbow Dash as she lowered her window. "Uh, Dash..." "Change of plan, Circuit," she said through gritted teeth, "Crim had a full load, now get in." Circuit sighed as he got in the car in the back seat, next to Rarity and behind Applejack.
Twenty minutes later. "That's all for today" Crimson said as they were all together in the drive view of the burger place they were in. All of then had handed over the money for their meal. "So that will be a salad wrap, strawberry cupcake, bacon and cheese roll and 5 hash browns?" The voice at the intercom said. "And one vanilla milkshake" Crimson added at the end "That will be $23.20" The intercom replied. Crim soon drove up to wait for the order, as Fluttershy broke the silence. "Hope Rainbow isn't being that harsh on Circuit..." She meekly said.
Rainbow Dash sat there in silence, having Applejack give the orders to the drive-thru instead. She seemed to be giving Circuit the cold shoulder. "Dash... listen... I have trouble sleeping at night, and, well..." he explained meekly, "Rugburn won't let me take pills because he thinks they're no better than mass-produced snake oil..." Suddenly, Rainbow Dash turned around and gave Circuit a glare so threatening that it would have vaporized him if looks could kill. "I can't keep doing this for you, Circuit. You need to take some responsibility and make sure you're awake on time every day! This is going to be the last time I pick you up, but after this, you're on your own." Circuit shuddered. "O-okay...," he stammered in reply. "...is that all for today?" asked the intercom, the operator's voice startled. "Yes, ma'am," replied Applejack. "Okay, your total is $21.27."
Several hours later When the others got to Canterlot High, it was merely a normal day like normal. Ever since breakfast, everyone who had been travelling with Crim tried to avoid the subject of what happened with Circuit and Rainbow. Twilight gleefully explained that tonight was going to be a special night. To mend whatever had been broken, she invited all of her friends to watch a meteor shower underneath the stary Night. To prevent light pollution from ruining things, she said that the group could sleep over at a small shack outside the city and in the countryside, far away from the chaos that the city brought.
Later that night... "I've set up my telescope so we can see the meteors up close," said Twilight. The nine teenagers sat on the ground atop a hill overlooking most of the city. It gave an excellent vantage point for observing the city, or in this case, the stars. "Wonderful!" said Rarity excitedly, "I've always wanted to see the beauty of a meteor shower firsthand..."
It was fairly windy tonight, but that didn't stop anyone from putting together a special occasion. The telescope was a powerful one, able to see up close for the expense of being a scaled down scientific one. All wouldn't be right, for as the stars began to fall, one was brighter then the other...
"Ooh, look at that star!" said Pinkie in excitement as she pointed to it, "It's getting brighter!" "I don't think that's a star..." replied Sunset. "IT'S COMING RIGHT FOR US!!" exclaimed Twilight.
"GET DOWN!" Rainbow suddenly screamed, as the flying ball of fire suddenly flew over a dozen meters above their heads that the sheer heat could be felt from such a distance away. Soon, the falling rock landed nearby from where the group of teens currently were stargazing. The moment the small meteor touched the ground, everything went into chaos. The ground was vaporized where it hit, melting the dirt and grass into glass. The heat sent shock-waves that could have ignited their clothes had they been any closer, but what was the worst was their distance from the sudden explosion. The explosion threw their worlds into a deafening silence akin to a flashbang, with the force throwing all of them a great distance across many meters in all directions. Then went to black...
---- Rainbow Dash awoke slowly, though she noticed that she suddenly felt strange, as if her very veins pulsed with electricity. "Is everyone okay?" she asked.
While most of the other teens groaned with pleasure, Twilight and Crim were absolutely nowhere to be seen. While it would have been difficult for the others to see at the moment, some of the nearby field was currently on fire. Soon, the two of them were found in a very weak state. Twilight looked like she took a beating, while Crimson was bleeding from the head to the toe from his forehead in ruined clothes. Miraculously, Crimson was still standing but his whole body shook...
Still dripping in blood, he looked like he had been hit by a car, or possibly a bus. But he was still standing. Instead, Crimson merely yawned. " I feel fine" Crimson yawned.
"Good to hear, Crimmy," said Pinkie Pie happily, but suddenly, an explosion seemed to detonate beside her. "WHAT THE HAY WAS THAT?!" demanded Applejack.
Pinkie looked to her side at the small explosion. She jumped at the sound before realising that she felt weird at the moment. As if she was full of energy....more then usual. "I think that was me" Pinkie told the group sheepishly.
