To seek out new life, and new civilizations... To boldly go... where nopony has gone before. ----- Captain's log: stardate 1312.4. Captain Rainbow Dash of the USS Enterprise commanding. As we begin our maiden voyage into space, we leave behind the great cloud of stars and planets we call our galaxy. Behind us, Equus, Mars, Venus, Mercury... even our Sun and Moon... all are but specks of dust in the vast expanses of the heavens. The question now is what awaits us in the black void beyond... What will we find out there? Will it welcome us with open hooves and no ill intent... or will it try to strike us from existence with all the care of a pony swatting a housefly? The USS Enterprise, being one of the most advanced ships in all of Starfleet, was well-equipped for the monumental task that lay ahead of it. As such, Captain Rainbow Dash wanted to be certain that the ship was in working order. "Dash to engineering," she said as she activated the ship's intercom, "Ms. Rarity, status report." "All systems functioning beautifully, Captain," replied Chief Engineer Lt. Commander Rarity, as she worked to maintain the stability of the craft's engines. "Thank you." "Course is steady, Captain," said Lieutenant Spike, the ship's helmsman, as he checked the navigation systems. "Weapons are operational and ready for anything!" said Ensign Pinkamena Diane "Pinkie" Pie, the tactical officer, as the diagnostics on the weapons tests came back. "Um, communications functioning normally, ma'am," said Lieutenant Fluttershy meekly. "Excellent..." said Rainbow Dash. "Ms. Sparkle, ETA of arrival at destination?" Comnander Twilight Sparkle, the Vulcan unicorn first officer and sciences officer, responded simply, "We will arrive in approximately 5 days, 14 hours, and 38 minutes." "Thank you, Ms. Sparkle." Rainbow Dash was excited for the task ahead. Ever since she was a filly in Cloudsdale, she wished to captain a starship and explore the universe. The fact that she was now living the dream seemed awesome to her, and not just in the informal sense, either. However, she was also a little worried. This was natural when facing uncharted space, but she hid it as well as she could from the rest of her crew.
Applejack, proud member of the USS Enterprise, came into the flight deck and saluted Captain Dash. "Sir! Weapons systems are remaining functional, although I do not know why they would equip weaponry to a scientific exploration ship." Twilight looked over at Applejack. "Perhaps now would be a good time to perform some calibrations."
