Ok I'm mobile right now (i would really appreciate a mobile skin BTW because the normal skin is super laggy) because my mom too my laptop away because I've been on to much lately and backsassed her. Fair enough. But truth is, I'm scared of college and really intimidated by this whole situation. I'm also scared of judgement. But I also love the liberal views of many of these forums I am on. Point is, how can I overcome these fears?

You're going to have to be more specific...what "fears" are you talking about? Going to college?

Well, college and getting a job. I'm worried I'll screw something up because of my ADD. And screwing something will be a hell of a lot worse in the real world... :/

I'm in a similar situation, and have gone through many like it before and the answer is rather simple but then again the best answers tend to be; Occam's Razor.

Dive in, you'll grow accustomed to it faster than you think.

    What he said.

College really isn't all that bad, it's like a slightly harder highschool where you don't have to show your parents your report card lol.

Jobs are kinda like school, your boss gives you an assignment, you do it, you go home. No biggie. Only difference is, you get paid to do it.

It's all a mindset. Don't go into it thinking you're going to fail, go into it with enthusiasm and an open mind, and you'll be fine. And don't drink on school nights. ;)

well, college isn't very scary thing.
As well as college will be new thing for you, it's new to everyone in your generation.
at firsrt it may be bit hard, but after a while you'll get used to the system and everything will be fine.
also, having a job isn't so bad. just take one task by one, and everything will be fine. I'm sure that in any job you get, in mater of days you'll be good at it. it's always like that.

I'm currently in college and, yes, first year was bit difficult adopting to new system and all, but best advice is to listen to advices of older students that already went trough this (preferably ones that you know that were successful). After a while you'll be able to use system way it'll suit you best.
You'll see, there's nothing to be afraid of. Yes, a lot of people scare you "it'll be hard when you go out in real life, you won't survive in college blah blah blah". I know, I went trough that. at elementary school: "high school's scary". me at high school: "this isn't so bad". at high school: "be afraid on college, you won't make it...". me on college: "well that isn't scary at all"
bottom point is: in whatever system you put people (most of them) in, they'll find something to whine about, and make it sound bad, when in reality, it isn't so bad.

I'm going through exactly the same type of situation as you are, the way I'm coping is by not giving a buck about what people think about me :derpe:

Now I know this isn't easy for some people, but sometimes, you've just got to let yourself be who you are, and not who others want to see you as. Sometimes you'll be surprised by reactions, and that way, you can't be judged because you're just being who you are, and that's just something you can't, and shouldn't, keep hidden away.

As for college, I'll be going there soon, it doesn't seem that bad from "taster days" and such like, just a more advanced version of high school with actually extra freedom. Jobs, I haven't got a proper one yet, although I might do soon.

Seeing as how we're both going through the same sort of thing, let's get through this together.

Wow. Pardon me if you respect your parents, but that is fairly idiotic of them. It sounds like what my parents say about people who use computers for more than an hour a day. :/

Oh, my parents have already lost a lot of my respect through hypocrisy and close-mindedness (which they claim to be against).

Just do whatever you want in life. As long as it affects no-one in a negative way (which I'm sure it won't), no-one has any right to judge you. As for the whole going to college. It's pretty much going to be like school, except you're more free to do what you want.

Yeah most parents are like that. That's because we have computers and all they had growing up was a stick and some dirt. So they can't really relate.

Lack of support from parents can definitely be tough in many situations, but acting in such a way as that gives the impression of lack of intelligence and understanding (I apologize if that's offensive).

You have my (and many other bronies) support. You can always count on us if you need someone to talk to.

I struggled at great lengths in my first weeks of uni, for a variety of reasons, mostly to do with mental things, rather than physical, such as stress, paranoia and anxiety to name a few. If I wasn't able to come here during the breaks or even during lectures, I seriously don't know what I'd do, these people have helped me a lot, perhaps even without them knowing, or me giving acknowledgement.

    All the best!

Fear not college, my friend. All my favorite school memories are from college. The work's harder, yes, but the teachers are there to help and you're not under constant pressure from parents. It takes off a lot of stress, believe me. And the people, my word. People are actually people in college, rather than trend-obsessed douches who judge you for what you wear or like and stuff like that.

Alot of parents just don't understand exactly what "parenting" means.

I'd say listen to them as much as you have to. Even they have life experience you should learn from. Problem is they can be extremely ridiculous about certain things, in which case you should just ignore them on that matter. Trust your own judgement on how much YOU are willing to listen to them. You're not their personal chew toy. They need to realize you have a mind, feelings, and needs of your own.

And if that's the case, going to college should be MUCH more fun for you, since you'll spend alot more time away from said annoying parents. You get to meet new people you may like. Make some friends, they'll be happy to help you with anything, and it'll work out fine.

You're never alone, especially not in college. :derpe:

Again sounding remarkably like my parents. Have I mentioned that I have very little respect for my parents?

That's the part I can't figure out. My dad freaking works at a telephone and internet service provider company, and his freaking job is sitting in front of a computer helping other people who use computers fix their internet. WTH?

You're welcome. And I'll tell you what I told everypony else I've met with personal problems that they need to vent: You can PM me any time. I will do what I can to help you feel better.

It's always amazed me that for just about everything we require people to study and get a license to do important things, like being a doctor, or driving a car, or even to dispense pharmaceuticals, but to be a parent, all you got to do is sleep with some one.

URGH! I meet so many terrible parents in my job . . .

Any ways, yes, the real world can be a bit scary, but don't worry - it's not that hard to keep on top of things. As for making a mistake, well, you're going to do that. You'll probably even get fired from a job or two, even if you don't make a mistake. The thing is to learn from any mistakes you make. If you can do that, you'll be ahead of the vast majority of people out there.

And college, well, it's tough, but probably worth it in the long run. Harder than High School, but funner, too. Just don't get carried away - you're there to learn, not to party.

Sorry if that last bit of advice sounds too "parent-y," but it's true.

Apparently being on a screen for more than an hour makes your mind blow up and makes you an idiot.

Hmm, I think I found a hole in my mother's logic.
