Well, if Don't know and i'm sure the whole lot of ya don't know but my mind has gone incredibly, Ill in the last couple of Weeks. All in mind is ponies, ponies, ponies, and more ponies, Which has been Consuming my mind so much that my mind has been like 100% ponified. I can't Stop thinking of Ponies. I been trying to watch other stuff that doesn't have to deal with MLP:FiM and has been working but Her comes College. Oooooh Man, Here comes college. First Week of College, not bad but could of been better. A few weeks go by, and My Stress level just broke the meter and The only thing that was making me relax were listeningto sleep music, relaxing music and MLP:FiM. Which to me is a real life saver, here. I'mnot gonna say ever in my life that this change of a brony, has made me this way, since this was the best way to make me more open then i was before and outspoken person theni was in the past. But i think the real answer is that my saying is that is college. I'm sick of this Cad crap. I'm sick of it, i'm am sick of it, I am Sick of it I don't Care what you say, father. I'm am not gonna be like You. I don't give a Rat's Ass (Sorry for Language) About CAD. My Dream was to become an Animator, and i'm gonna go behind your back, father. I hates, cars. I hate the Automotive business. I don't want to build parts for involving cars. I want to Animate cartoons, and you know, father that i told you in the past that i wanted to become one. What do you know what will make you money? Is that all you care for? Money? I want to become an animator cause i love it and something i was always interested in when i was little. I can draw very well but it's still amateur. That doesn't mean i won't get better, over time what i am trying to really say that this is what college and me don't really go together, unless it's something i'm going for in the first place, in college and my father's demands to make me live a life as he wants it. I just want to live my own life as an animator. That's all i really want to do.

Please excuse me. I need some coffee.

You're a grown ass man. Do whatever you want to do. You could literally up and leave college and be a juggler on Venice beach if you wanted to. Make a decision, weigh the risks, and button down and get to work. Seriously, screw your dad. If he isn't cashing AARP cheques by now he'll soon have piss all to do with your life.

P.S. Money is important, but I guess you wouldn't know that if your parents have been buying everything for you your whole life.

Well, it's completely your decision. ^_^
I intend to be a comic artist/game designer with my dad, and a lawyer for the a-bit-more-probable part as a compromise with my dad.
I won't be all of them, but at least if I get good grades and become a lawyer, that will help me with my dream job of drawing comics, or designing games.

Why not give CAD a try, not with the intentions of staying as one, but to help you out in the future when you want to become an animator? :D

Turk, you should follow what you want to do. While money isn't the must important thing, you still need to make some.

I'd say if you want to be a animator go for it don't let someone stomp on your dreams.

Ah, people are always expecting their children to follow their dreams! My parents are rather hoping I'll be a good computer game designer, and I know that's going to change. I can't design anything without pilfering some other poor sap's ideas!!

This is your life, not your father's life.
do what YOU want of it, now what he wants of it.
beside, animator is a great job.
If you continue doing what you don't like, remember, that will be job that you'll need to do for rest of your life, and you'll hate your job and be miserable.
Now, it's not to late to make that change. Do what you want to do, what you love to do but keep in mind that you'll be able to make living out of it (whit animation, you don't have to worry about that).
I suggest you to go for animation. you'll be much happier in future life.

What is it with parents deciding what their children should do? My parents did everything possible to crush my dreams - worked too, dang it. So, if you have a chance to do what you want to, go for it.

do not let your father dictate your life, that is something only you can decide for yourself, not others.
I have a friend at school that has somewhat the same problem (parents saying what they want to be is wrong) I learned this from a friend. Ever since that day i've been supporting what he's been striving for every day at school, even if i dont like the music genre (he wants to be a rapper)
So basically what im trying to say is, if you've got a dream, go for it. Don't let anyone tell you that what you want to be is a bad thing. You dictate your own life, you make your own decisions, not others making it for you. If you truly want to be an animator (and i find that to be a cool job in fact) then you've got to go for it my friend, and tell your father to back off.

You sound similar to my other friend back in my last year of High School (He's still in High School while I'm in College.) He was interested in CADD for a couple years, but didn't like it because of his passion for Animation as well. Not to mention his father wanted him to take CADD to follow his footsteps.

That is one interesting life. You don't happen to be from Florida? (Not the same guy as the one at the High School I used to go to.)

Anyways CADD was fun during my three years, wasn't that interesting because I prefered Engineering Tech than CADD.

So I guess more than one person can same a similar story to someone elses somewhere else. Interesting.

    :derpe:

(Also got 3 free credits for College when I did Tech Prep in CADD.) Woohoo.

Pursue your dream. You can be happy whether he approves or not. If being an animator for MLP is your dream, then make it a reality, there's a metric ****-ton who would love that job.

I'm glad you vented. It seems you have a lot of built up stress and anger at your dad. Try not to let anger dictate or cloud your actions, though. Don't learn to animate to get vengence on your father. Make sure you animate because it's what YOU want to do.

As has been said, your father has no control over your future or your life. You have many choices in front of you.

My suggestion? Do what you love. Do it for you. Be happy. And when happy, pity your father because you've accomplished and achieved so much more than he ever will.

NOTE: Money IS important, sad as that is, but you can get a decent amount of money in animation. If you ARE stressed about it, though, you could always minor in art and major in something else you're less interested in so you can get a job and support yourself WHILE you work on animation. Just a thought to help relieve more stress.

And feel free to vent more anytime.
