ok, so I just got my hands on #3 of IDW official mlp comic and it's awesome.
Storyline, jokes and gags, and whole artwork is amazing.
Scootaloo won the comic with her lame pun (seems like that orb can spin the story).
Also, reason why I like Twilight so much. When Twilight and Fluttershy fell into that prison hole, her reaction with useless facts. Just amazing.
Pinkieception and Dashception are also win-win's. And Pinkie always brings I'm sorry cake with her xD
    overall 9001/5. awesome.

Issue 3 was yet another A+ effort from Kate, Andy & Co. The writing was great, the pacing was great, the art was great, the characters worked so well of each other and created such wonderful comedic chemistry. Well save Flutes & Twy but they made up for that by getting into many hilarious situations, gotta love those obbulette's and chupacabras!

Also I give the IDW MLP:FIM team a BIG thumbs up for being so ballzy with the book, that scene near the end where Chrysalis shows the crusaders what she plans to do with them by killing(?) one of the Wuv Cats *sure its off panal be we see the Thump and the splatter. Pretty dark, Don Bluth & Walt Disney would approve! XD.

Oh and the whole Chupacabra & Jackalopes fighting over who gets to eat the mane-six, Priceless!! Fluttershy is right you know, Nature is fascinating!

Can't wait to see the final confrontation between the mane-six and the changlings next issue, oh March 6th can't get her fast enough!!!

    P.S. EAT....THE...CAKE!

I've actually never heard of the IDW comic before...but I would like to get my hands on it.

Some questions since I'm a comic book noob...

How many issues of this are there, just 3?

I found a site that has them listed as 1A, 1B, 1B-2ND, 3RI lmited, etc. What exactly does that mean?

@Frost. Yes so far theres only 3 issues of the regular ongoing monthly series out. BUT each issue has MULTIPLE COVERS *its a way for companies to make more money off of collectors* so the 1A 1B, 2A, 3A, etc, is just the issue # and the cover Letter. All issue #1, #2, #3, etc would have the same stories inside despite the letter next to them that is 1A has the same story as 1B, 3A has the same story as 3RI etc, etc & so on.

But yeah the stories are split into 4-part arcs. The first storyline "The Return Of Queen Chrysalis" Is issues #1-#4 The second Storyline "NightMare Moon Rebron" Takes place between issues #5-#8 after that we don't know yet. Again issues #1-#3 are out now, and issue #4 comes out on March 6th.

Theres also a side-series called the MLP:FIM Micro-Series, it'll be six-issues long and each one spotlights a different pony, the first issue of the Micro comes out on 2/20 and focuses on Twilight Sparkle, the second one comes out 3/20 and focuses on Rainbow Dash.

So yeah basically its a monthly ongoing comic, but each issue will have multiple covers, just pick your favorite for each one if your not a hard core comic nerd *like me XD*

The ones where it's listed as "3RI" and says "1 for 10 variant cover."

    What's that mean?

**Edit: nevermind, I think I found the answer.

RI/ 1:10 are Retailer Incentive covers, ones made to encourage comic shops to order a certain number of copies so they can get the RI cover to sale in their shops. basically its like buy 100 of the regular AB covers get 10 of the RI cover or something like that.

But yeah in the end its not that big of a deal, its pretty easy to keep track of all the covers, and you only need to buy 1 of each issue if your just reading it for the story and not trying to collect em all. Its really not that hard of a concept to understand, not trying to sound rude...but yeah.
