Hey, fellow Bronies! I'm SuperFan a fairly new brony who just got into the pony-dom two months ago. Normally, before this week, I would watch MLP:FIM on youtube in private and look up amazing fan art and funny pictures and other cool stuff. But I just started to tape full episodes of the show on my TV. My sis and I have two seperate rooms but both share the same DVR. If I record a MLP episode on my TV, she can watch it on hers and vice-versa. However, tonight she asked me why all these episodes of the show were taped. I told her that I like the show and a lot of guys at my school watch it. My friend and his friends watch it. She asked if they were gay and why I would want to watch a show made for "5 year-old girls". I told her it's awesome and it's no different from her watching marathons of Degrassi, which I dislike. I told her she can like a show I don't, and I can do the same. She then walked off. How can I convince her why I like the show so much? What episode should I show her if I can get her to watch it?? I just need help with this stuff. By the way, we are both 15 and in High School. I'll accept any tips and answer questions if possible.
I'd show her any episode except maybe the season 1 pilot episodes. Most Season 2 episodes have more subtle nudges to bronies, so maybe one from season 2. Or you could show her some of the fan-art, music, fan-made videos, etc. Anything that shows how much of a male community there really is. Maybe show her some videos of Bronycon 2012. That said, you can't force anyone to like it. If she doesn't like it, leave her be.
Don't force her to watch it, forcing people to do things they don't like they will hate it more. This site could work as an example that it's a legit thing to like the show. Sorry, I can't be much help. Welcome to the forum.
First you should rid her of the notion the show was made for 5-year old girls, since that's just incorrect. It was certainly made with young children in mind (not just girls), but was purposely made with a wide appeal. It just ended up being wider than they'd imagined. Anyway, WELCOME friend! I'm Yami, nice to meet you!
Wow I didn't think I would have such a quick response to this! You colts/mares are awesome! I think I'll take all of your advice. I'll probably ask her politely and with honesty, (since I took the pony quiz and am most like Applejack 1st, Rainbow Dash 2nd, Twilight Sparkle 3rd, Pinkie Pie 4th, Rarity 5th, and Fluttershy 6th) to watch an episode. Probably either Return of Harmony, A Canterlot Wedding, or that episode when Spike goes crazy! Party of One is a fun one, though. I won't force her, and I'll just tell her to leave me be. Thanks again, everyone, I'm just glad to be welcomed to the herd so easily. P.S. On a side note, since I'm new, where do you get your cutie mark? And I do NOT want help from the CMC!!
Oh wait nevermind, I figured it out! I'll post my mark as.. maybe a book since I like reading and am a Unicorn so yeah! Thanks anyway!
Hello! Welcome to Everypony! Enjoy your stay. Really, I'd just show her any episode. Pick one of your favorites even.
Welcome to Everypony! Where Everypony is somepony. Enjoy your stay, have fun and if you need anything just ask! Next step for you, make an OC and get an avatar!
Don't worry about your sister. I think that people only say watching this show makes you "gay" is because people associate being gay with having effeminate traits. Honestly, many of my gay friends don't even "act like they're gay", as society would say. They just act like normal people. And, as a matter of fact, most of my gay friends don't understand why I watch My Little Pony either. It's a shame that your sister has fallen for one of the worst lies our society tells us, but again, I wouldn't worry about it. I totally didn't understand why people would watch this show at 15 either. You might consider talking to her about why wearing certain clothes or watching certain shows doesn't make you gay in any sense of the word. Also, you got Applejack on the quiz? Me too! Welcome to Everypony!
first of all I'm Yeti, nice to meet you second. I'd suggest Weep and Read. explains process of becoming a brony.
Once again, thanks everypony! Hey, see my OC?? Well he doesn't have a name, and I've no idea what to use for a signature. Any ideas?
yes I agree but I wasn't going for sickly more or less nervous cause I fidget a lot and can't keep still so I always seem nervous to my friends. Of course it doesn't help I have a crush on one of them... But that's an awesometacular name, Yami! Thanks bunches!
