Rashall was waiting for Rex at the edge of the forest reading a book while he waited. Truth was he wanted this done and over with as quick as possible, but he knew it would be a slow process.
"Hmmm, ah you must be Rex as to the book it is known as 'The Unseen Places' but you are no doubt wondering why you are here," says Rashall in response.
"That would be correct, I almost didn't come but there is no doubt you have a real concern. I am here to help anyway I can." Rex says.
"Yes we have quite the situation. There have been an increasing number of ponies that have gone missing, all of them have happened at around midnight. There have been no witnesses until the most recent incident, if you follow me I will lead you to the site. Let me warn you though there are some things in these woods that do not take kindly to strangers," says Rashall heading off into the forest.
"I have been in a dangerous forest once before" Rex says as he follows. "Who is the witness by the way?" rex questions.
"A young filly known as Suntide, why she was up so late none can say. She is quite horrified of the experince, Chaplain Torpas of my squad is with her at the moment and we've locked the area down. Patrols in all areas have been doubled and a curfue is in effect until this is solved and the missing ponies are returned safely home. As you can see I care greatly for those that I watch over," says Rashall walking into the area finally. It is strangely quiet and there are no noticable guards cordening off the area.
'A terrified child, this will be tough. What would a filly possibly be doing out in the forest so late' Rex thinks to himself. "Commendable I must say. you would be suprised how often that isn't the case with someone meant to protect others." Rex speaks entering the area. He can't help noticing how strangely quiet things are. "so it's just us at the scene?" Rex asks
Rashall approaches a tall figure near a small chapel. The figure is encased in black battle plate with a skull like helmet around his neck hangs the famed Rosoruis and in one of his hands is his staff of office the Crozius Arcanum. "Lord," says the armor wearing wolf bowing slightly at the sight of Rashall, "Who is this one that comes with you?" Asks the wolf looking at Rex through red tinted eye pieces. "This is Rex, the investigator that I requested from Celestia. He will be helping us with this mystery, where is Suntide?" Asks Rashall wondering why the chaplain was outside. "She is within sleeping, as you know she was up pretty late and she wishes to rest," says Torpas. "Very well then, Rex you might want to get your bearings on this place. The only evidence we have is some dark resedue on that lamp post in the middle of the square. I will be looking around as well as I only arrived this morning along with Torpas here," says Rashall nodding towards the chaplain. He then heads off to the more western part of the small village.
"The square is where the latest incident took place then?" Rex asks looking around in a very unfamliar place.
"Yes this is where it took place, all Suntide has told us was that the pony that was taken, his name was Red Leaf, was standing next to the lamp post. Then the light went out and she heard a scuffle break out after which a keening cry was hear. The light came back on but was dim and Suntide said she could make out the ragged outline of tall shadowy figure with fiery green eyes. Suntide had closed her eyes by then, she had been in the chaple the entire time as to why I have yet to find out," says Torpas. Rashall moves besides him with a concerned look.
"So she didn't see the actual moment of the disappearance? If it is all right I would like to speak with Suntide myself? When she is up to it of course, and until then I would like to look around" asks Rex, motioning to the scene.
"I...I'll answer your questions to the best of my ability, but only if we can stay in the chapel," says Suntide from the doors of the small chapel.
"It is were we pray to our Pantheon of lords and ladies, specifically the Lady of the Forest others know her as Gaia. Since we are in the Shadowed Forest this place holds a lot of power," says Rashall bowing to the statue of the Lady at the other end of the chapel.
"how intersting" Rex says as he watches Rashall bow, it makes him wonder if should bow as not to seem rude... "Now Suntide, I know it was a frightening experience, but do you think you could tell me about what you saw." Rex asks the filly.
"I...I saw a shadowed figure attack Red Leave from behind, from what I heard it seemed like he fought back. Then I noticed it's eyes, and.." says Suntide starting to cry she runs over to Rashall and buries her head in his chest sobbing. "I think I might know of the creature she is talking about, but I wish to double check a book I have at my house," says Rashall trying to comfort the crying filly.
