I'm just wondering if name changes on the forums are within the realm of possibility. Of course this is no small matter and lots of name changes will get confusing. And it goes without saying that it should be kept to a minimum. I've seen features on other forums that allow members to change their name only once every few months, or a staff-made thread in which members can request a name change a limited number of times, both under strict rules that they have good enough reasons and let other people know about their name change in their signatures and the like. Any chance we can get such an option here?
I asked the above question out of general intrest. I have no real reason to change my name yet, but i wanted to request the option just in case. Then again, if i had the same name everywhere, it would save me some signature space
Yup, it is definitely possible for any admin to change your name. Just name the new name and give a good reason as to why you want your name changed and there you go.
Well yes, it is possible to change your name on the forum. Just contact an administrator. What Jaret said. On the forum I moderate, anyone can change their forum name and add a comment under their avatar, but I have access to custom titles. So if depends on the forum. What name are you planning to change to?
My reason for changing names isn't that big. If i change it, probably it'll be RarityBrony so it'll be the same as my Youtube account. But my youtube account isn't really big, interesting, or known to alot of people, so i'm doubting if i should even bother. But not to derail this thread for my interests, my main purpose for this thread was more for the general intrest than my own.
We can and do allow a single rename (in a reasonable but not specific time frame) with good reason via personal administrative contact. In simple English that means if you want to change your name contact an administrator with the reason why (PM works best) and in most cases we'll be happy to change it for you.
well, actually, i would like to change mine, only problem is i don't think my reason will be very reasonable
