Hello all I am here to get a bit of help with my oc. I have her appearance and talent. But I need a name and backstory. She is a Pegasus mare with a dusty brown coat and faded crimson mane and tail her eyes are a vibrant orange contrasting her dull and dirty appearance and her cutie mark is a torch to represent her talent at cave exploring or "spelunking". I can develop a personality from the backstory and I have a mental block when it comes to names... For the cutie mark story I was thinking something like her getting lost in a cave or something but like I said I have a mental block for this stuff. (if this is in the wrong place. Please move it to a place where it will get more views.)
I'll be blunt, I won't help you devise a backstory or a name, however I can help you along with that path. You have her appearance and her talent, which means you must have her personality and so on and so forth. All you simply have to do, is answer a simple question, and you'll have her backstory begin unraveling right in front of you: Why? Why does she have that talent? How does she have that talent? Why is she the way she is? As you make the backstory, you can have the appearance contour to either what she's been through, or mirror who she is. For example, one of my OC's, Kairos, is closely intertwined with time-based magic, and as such he has golden flowing hair which I've used as a way to symbolize to flowing sands of time.
If you could please just help with a name then... I seriously have never been able to name any of mine... Aside from simple ones
I usually like to use the name as a means to reference something or allude to something. Kairos, again as an example, is heavily associated with time. Kairos is a greek work for "optimal time" or something similar. Hmmm, as for your OC, she's a spelunker, but just going of names in regards to gems sounds a tad dull to me. If she has a cold personality, I'd recommend the name Diamond Dust
I think zephyr's idea of a name is good: Diamond dust. Backstory: she grew up with only her mother, & she was the last in her class to get a cutiemark, she was made fun of for a year or two because she didn't have one, so one day, she went out, into the Everfree, to try to find her talent, she stumbled across a cave that she got lost in after a while of traveling throughout it, she was so lost she almost gave up hope, but she pushed on for a while trying to find her way out, after about half an hour of wandering, she finally made her way out, she was surprised by how quickly she got out, she walked quickly out of the forest, & looked at her flank to see if there was a cutiemark, & there it was, a torch. (I would think, because of her being made fun of, she'd be shy around others, so shy and 'cold'.)
