Need a little help

I think Lesson Zero, Party of One, and Fall Weather Friends would be good choices for outsiders.

 

Good choices except i'd replace Fall Weather Friends with Sleepless in Ponyville.

Literally ANYTHING from Season 1.
Show him the first episode though in order to kind of instill an understanding.

 

I'm going to have to agree here, usually it's best to start at the beginning. Adventure Time is pretty random and has almost no linear plot to speak of, so it doesn't matter which episodes you see. MLP has more of a backstory and the characters develop more, so it might benefit more from being seen from the beginning.

Winter-wrap up might be good, since it kinda semi-formally introduces the characters, and I'd prolly stay away from Season finales and Spike episodes, but my best advice is the first three. Watching it from the beginning is how we all got hooked, right?

 

I would say show the first two episodes to give an introduction to the mane cast. After that I would show whatever you feel your favorite episode is. Personally I would go with Luna Eclipsed. An alternative to the first two episodes would be the first two from season 2, it does a good job of introducing the characters and has a very interesting story (gotta love Discord).

No I'm not joking, those are some of my favorites. Why?

 

Except for about 10 seconds of diabetus-inducing footage, Apple Family Reunion is one of the worst episodes season 3 had to offer.

 

Personally I like all episodes but I still stick by the ones I listed on the first page.
