New Lunar Republic vs Solar Empire Discussion Ok so I was watching this video [video=youtube;NcTM-lRxPbs]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcTM-lRxPbs[/video] And to be honest, i'd think that the mane 6 would most likely all be on the Solar Empire (Which is sad cause I like Luna more.) and those who choose the New Lunar Republic would more likely then not, have to fight the mane 6. From this sudden realization I have deduced that the Solar Republic, would and will always be the superior choice in my mind. I love Luna alot, but sadly I have to choose the option, where the ones who introduced us to our love of the show. Are present and allies. Please share opinions and or arguments, I want to know where ya'll stand.
Well, it's really a question of whether you'd like to be ruled under a monarch (namely, Celestia), or a president of some sort.
Except Republic implies a council, not a president/king. Besides, it takes on average to years for some sort of Bonaparte-like dictator to show up after a revolution, and knowing the OPness of Luna, it will be her. So, do you want a kingdom of aristocratic trolls, or a republic with a decent dictator who can not be crossed? Ima stick with option three: Discord. Discord is best ruler. He don't give a damn and doesn't afraid of anything. He is also completely OP without MacGuffins like the Elements in the equation. If they ARE, then there can be no lunar republic because Celestia has loyal laz0rbaam slaves to destroy whoever it is that pisses her off.

Republic implies a state ruled by one who is not a king. Like the Weimar republic, for example. That had a president as a complete ruler, but he didn't really do much (except for, in this case, watch the Mark's value decrease a billionfold).
Most SUCCESSFUL republics were in fact rules by a council. All of them then became dictatorships. Rome, USSR, France (1st revolution), Germany (post WW1)...

Personally, I would prefer a republic but that is irrelevent due to my love of and loyalty to Princess Luna. But, to be honest, it doesn't seem as though people have a problem with choosing which should rule but more of would the series of events to accomplish such a "reality" be worth the trouble. Seeing as though the level of difficulty of such revalution is left to the imagination, whether or not it would be worth it is completely arbitrary. But, to go back to Placidzone's first statement, even if you do like Luna more, would you be prepared to do what would have to be done to accomplish the "reality" that you believe to be truth?
Umm, according to the op the nation is called the "New Lunar Republic" so your first statement contradicts itself. Personally I'd side with Luna. While Celestia would most likely have the mane 6 on her side, I don't think the elements of harmony would be a threat as a lethal one. From what we've seen in the show, the elements force a type of harmony into any situation they are introduced. When Luna was hit with it, she managed to come to terms with her own emotions and feel terrible about acting out against Celestia. However when a being like Discord was hit, his personality wasn't changed since he was acting normally and thus the elements did the best they could to bring Harmony by incapacitating him. In this situation I think the Elements would be worthless as a weapon of war, however they may work as a diplomatic tool for Celestia. But that goes off on another tanget. LD;DR Luna is best pony, LONG LIVE THE NEW LUNAR REPUBLIC!

neither side. i would sit down with my sisters and ask both tia and luna to work out their diffrences. they are family and as their brother its my duty to remind them they love eavhother. tia waited a tjousand years sad to see her sister again and luna never really meant to hurt any pony she only wanted to be loved and so i will love them both and remind them of all of this so we can restore equestria to its true greatness in peace with both sisters loved equally. however i also am a child of.the night so new lunar republic ftw. ok but seriously i would help them make things right again and restore their love for one another with the mane and my own student trixie to help me. for that matter i might even go get doctor hooves and derpy to bring me a tarfis for backup ugh i mean tardis.... stupid phone wont let me delete letters without crashing browser
screw all of them, who needs twilghtopia, new lunar republic, the solar empire or the crystal kingdom when we could just go to equestria through a portal with guns and tanks and planes etc and take over equestria the human way. though if i was a pony i would possibly form a new group called the peace corps for ponies who want harmony back restoring peace to equestria with both princesses.
I'm going to the republic here. Luna would give me a gun and a real reason to fight that Celestia would.
Being an Anarchist, I follow the Discordian Agenda. He seems like the sort that would give people lots of freedom and would let you be yourself as long as it didn't screw with his chocolate rain. Between the two princesses and as an astronomer, I support Luna. She seems like a very kind pony, even if she does come on strong and would allow a great deal of personal freedom. Although some might say she's not very dependable given she's been absent from almost every major fight the mane 6 have been involved in.
