Fancy being part of a short documentary for BBC Voices, Norwich? Come to a general meetup day for shopping, eating and general chat in Norwich on Saturday 17th November 2012. Meeting at 11:30am @ Norwich Train Station. There will be two people present (a guy and a girl aged 20 and 23) who are helping to make a documentary for BBC Voices who are hoping to get a few general shots of bronies spending time together and hopefully answering a few questions about the fandom. You won't be made to do or say anything you're not comfortable with and be assured that the purpose of the documentary is to present Bronies in a positive light in relation to the area. IF THIS DATE IS TOO SHORT NOTICE FOR ENOUGH PEOPLE, IT CAN BE RESCHEDULED FOR THE FOLLOWING WEEKEND. THANK YOU, WE ARE LOOKING FOR AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE TO MAKE THIS A GREAT DAY. PLEASE BRING ANY MERCHANDISE/CLOTHING YOU WANT TO SHOW OFF. SHOW OFF THE PRIDE OF THE FANDOM.
I'd have to know about this way in advance to plan for it I'm afraid, but don't let me stop you. Word of warning though, be very careful, the media, in this case the BBC, might say one thing, but they are very very good at manipulating what they've gathered into a negative light. Heck, in itself, publicity in the media for some bronies is a very scary thing because they might not want their parents or friends or relatives to tune into a TV channel to find all these things that are based from a documentary/study, not interaction face to face with real life bronies. There's a huge difference in the message it creates. Make sure if anyone's coming that they are not bringing any merchandise or clothing that may be considered vulgar, offensive, or perverted, because I think we can all safely say that's not the impression we should be giving. Apart from that, I hope it all goes well and enjoy yourselves guys
hey thanks for your message. i completely get what you're saying as far as being careful goes. I have been assured by everyone involved that the project is completely localised and going to be put into context of the area (ie. the point of the piece being that 'bronyism' is a positive thing and its showing how young people in norfolk are getting in touch with people of similar interests across the world, etc. etc. and challenging stereotypes and broadening horizons). As far as I can tell at the moment, the thing is only going to be only shown locally too (not broadcast on one of the main BBC channels afaik), so people shouldn't have to worry about getting mixed up in something too big. Just a short fun piece to show people the spirit of the fandom. I personally will be helping to edit the project so can assure everyone that it won't be anything remotely malicious - on this note we are staying WELL clear of the "dark side" of the subject... if you get what i'm saying. so yeah, please nobody bring anything creepy! things like fanart, tshirts, toys, etc. are welcome. But yeah thanks a lot ThePoeticPony hoping for a good turn out all the same! sorry you can't make it - if you could spread the word to friends you think could though, that would be amazing! thanks
