Not witnessing it, nor a part of it. I thought it hadn't quite hit yet. Or am I behind on the news again? D

I've been reading up on Issac, and it is NOT a hurricane, it classifies as a powerful tropical storm. The reason why you can't get ahold of your friends is because they have likely lost power, not unusual for a storm. Most people in Florida have probably weathered worse storms than Tropical Storm Issac

From what I heard from Dragonbait who was talking to me during the hurricane's initial touchdown etc, the most powerful parts of the storm were further south of the state near places like Miami and Key West, while leaving most of Central Florida with heavy rain and wind, so just a big tropical storm, no biggy there. It's not a very strong hurricane, more like an over-sized traditional tropical storm. I haven't really looked up how the storm's progressed yet, but it gets weaker the longer it's on land because it gets it's energy from the heat and the winds over the sea, so the further it's away from large bodies of water, the more it will disperse.

I think it's already starting to die down considerably from what I've looked at.
