I'm just curious as to who here is an original brony or a branch brony. Original being someone who found the show completely on their own, and a branch brony being one who was told about it by someone else. This is kind of similar to the "How did you find out about the show" thread. Anyways, I'm an original brony. I was browsing through a Naruto fan site when I came across a member who was requesting a youtube background that someone else was using.(SilkAMV) When I visited his channel I saw a video of Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy at Zecora's place, only it was a remade version of her song and was a rap. The syncing was so good I thought it was an original, custom animated video. The animation was very eye-catching and I just kept browsing through all the suggestions. Found out it was MLP on day 2 or 3.
Original brony. When I found it I only knew of some of the crossover things. like Ponycraft 2 trailer. Then I got bored at lunch one night and started watching the show. By episode 3 I was a brony.
Original. Saw Pony related crossover things, then watched kyrospawn stuff for ages before actually trying the show, And really enjoyed those tiny clips. I liked the show itself by about 3rd or 4th episode
Both? I knew about the show beforehand, then ran into someone wearing a brony shirt while working. He recommended the show to me, and I seriously considered watching it. Then I completely forgot about it for a few months. Then, in February, I stumbled upon ponies on YouTube and started watching kyrospawn and EpicTeGuy clips from the show. The adorableness was so strong that, after 7 hours, literally the whole day doing nothing but mindlessly clicking on the next pony video, I accepted I might be a brony and downloaded the series. I watched it from episode 1 and loved it. A day or two later, I ended up here! So I knew of it, someone recommended it to me, I forgot, and then was converted by pony YouTube vids.
I certainly knew about bronies a while, and was fine with them. Had no intentions of joining. About 3 weeks ago my friend told me he was a brony and made me watch some. I got hooked
Branch Brony. Someone else alerted me to the show's awesomeness. It took me some time to get interested but... just look at me; I'm hooked.
Original here. Started seeing these ponies all around the net I decided to see an episode... ??? PROFIT!
Original? I didn't just stumble across them but it wasn't recommended to me either. I thread was started about it on another forum, a lot of people seemed to like it, so I decided to give it a chance myself and promptly fell in love.
Original brony: found the show after looking several times: Friendship is still magic *squee!*!!! I found that Luna character hilarious. I start looking for that psycho in the girls cartoon till I realize I was looking the now not so girly cartoon show cause I actually liked it.
I'm an original brony. Back in October I was watching The Iron Giant on the Hub and Equestria Girls commercial came on. It was the first pony related thing I've ever seen (I had never even heard of bronies or that there was even a new MLP cartoon). I hated Katy Perry's version, but thought this one was a really well done parody. Same night I watched the first two episodes, instantly loved it. It took me about a week of questioning my sanity until I had discovered I wasn't alone.
^ This. I've already mentioned my origins before on previous threads, so I'll just agree with this. I became a brony in May last year, and have actually "converted" three people into bronies.
I'm an original. Found a clip of Flutterguy singing Pinkie Pie's Evil Enchantress song. I had to find out what I had just watched, found the show and have been watching it ever since.
well, by definition, since there were 3 elements that got me into ponies, and 2 of them were people telling me about the show, I'd say I'm Branch Brony. Branch Brony elements: element 1: Friend (Miles24) has become brony, and recommended me the show element 2: ex gf (that I haven't talked in almost a year) has become brony in mean time (was long distance relationship), and when we started to talk again she was talking about the show almost every single day (for a week, and it took her week to get me to watch the show). Original Brony element: element 3: since I was on cheezeburger network for long time by then, I started to came across mlp:fim memes on memebase (there was no my little brony.com by that time), and it looked funny, and I thought, that if show has such big fanbase, there has to be something in that show that so many people like it.
I was never pushed to watch MLP and made the choice to give the show a chance all on my own. I was by myself and didn't tell anyone I was going to watch it when I did. However I don't think I ever would have given the show a chance if not for several friends of many years that had already become bronies. It was the changes in them and they things they spoke of that made me curious about the show. Really I'm about 50/50 bettween these two choices, but for the sake of this poll I put myself as a branch brony.. Hey, we are having a meetup today at my store. I think this will be the first meetup with more than 4 people.
Original. Discovered the show in September 2011 when the forums on a game I used to play got bombarded with pony related stuff. The pony bombardment then left that site, and so did I.
The Riot employees (aka reds) on the League of Legends forums would occasionally start a thread around 1-4 am titled "Mods are Asleep" and it was usually Lead Champion Designer Morello starting with "...Post ponies!" (leading with a caption Rainbow Dash picture). After seeing about 3-4 of those threads, I decided to check it out.
Foxytail happens to be in my Games Development course and, as you'd imagine, he's rather vocal about the show he loves. He urged me towards checking out the rest of the show but I had watched the first two while looking at the My Little Pony Know-Your-Meme page. The videos were linked to their example video or whatever... So...a bit of both but mainly Branch.
