His fur and hair is sun-bleached because where he lived his fillyhood/childhood, he lived on the mountains. There, the sun hit harder and most of its people are sun-bleached. He decided to go live on a much lower town and hit the road towards Ponyville when he just got to adulthood. Occasionally he send money to his parents to support them over there.
