I was wondering if anybody had any weird or unusual phobias. Personally, I have a fear of deep water. I refuse to enter any body of water that doesn't have a drain and a soapdish.
I'm absolutely terrified of bees. Spiders, too, (big ones) but bees especially. When I was five years old, me and my childhood friend were stomping around on our porch. What we didn't know was that there was an entire hive of hornets. They went to my head, literally, and began to sting, getting caught in my braid. Later, when we counted, there was at least fifteen stings. My friend had been fast and only gotten a sting right by his eye. "And that's how Equestria was made!"
I'm slightly gynephobic. Not enough to have a major impact on me, but I'm not particularly good at socializing with women unless they make an effort to get to know me better and make it clear they aren't out to get me.
Claustrophobic, but not to any major degree. I have to pretty much be immobile in a tight space. But then there's... A-R-A-C-H-N-O-P-H-O-B-I-A I grew up around the especially dangerous species of Black Widow when I was younger, and as a result, thin-legged spiders with large abdomens are absolutely terrifying, no matter how harmless scientific studies say they are. Even daddy long-legs creep me out (though for a few years I actually used to play with them, but that confidence melted away at some point), The funny thing is that tarantulas don't bother me. Their thick, fuzzy bodies and generally slow, creeping movements have always just seemed kind of tame. ...Even those glassweb spiders in World of Warcraft bothered me if I zoomed in on them with high graphics... Amusingly, the raid boss in Naxxramas named Maexxna was a gigantic Black Widow but never once bothered me. /shrug My phobias are finicky like that.
I have a fear of The dark, aand that's about it, mainly because I have a wild imagination when it comes to what could be hiding there...watching...waiting
The fear of being laughed at. That's a bad one. I've heard of cases where people shut themselves off from the world completely, even refusing to talk to others online.
Coulrophobia- the fear of clowns. Shared with johnny depp, Daniel Radcliffe and P Diddy Achluophobia- fear of the dark. And claustrophobia but only on packed public transport
SPIDERS. ALL THINGS SPIDERS. AND BEES. AND WASPS. AND BUGS IN GENERAL. I CAN'T DO BUGS. Bugs are evil ._.; Truly. They are. Um... I have a fear of planes, or more a major fear of falling. I'm not agoraphobic, but I do dislike wide open spaces. I'd rather be closed in. For example: At a booth in a diner, I'd rather be between the wall and another body, instead of sitting closest to the aisleway. ._. spiders. yo.
Basketballs. I am dead serious. I had to join a different PE team while mine was playing basketball. It was quite embarassing.
I did have a fear of: - Spiders - The dark - Rollercoasters - Unsafe heights (anywhere there isn't a rail or it doesn't feel sturdy) - Enclosed spaces But I overcame all of them. Mostly through exposure. With spiders coming into your house during the Winter, I'm just used to seeing them scuttle about every couple of weeks or so, they don't frighten me any more. I rode the biggest rollercoasters I could find and assured myself in doing them that I could now conquer any extreme ride, anything now is kid's play. I realised enclosed spaces/packed crowds would disperse eventually, especially if something did happen to me, which wouldn't be fatal anyway. There is nothing lurking in the dark, it's just your imagination playing with you. And heights I just kind of don't give a monkey about any more. I don't know why, just don't.
When I lived in the countryside of Florida I had to deal with spiders that can wrap their legs around a softball on a daily basis. The exposure sure didn't help my fear, it enhanced it 1000x. These are the spiders that would come into our house. This particular one was right at the door by the garage. Still makes my skin crawl from the memories. Spoiler Fun fact: That cord is as thick as my thumb.
