So I'm working on some small templates based on the three most common body types(female, male and filly) I'm thinking the filly's legs have to be a bit longer, but what about the others? Any changes I should make before I go any farther?
Write a template? And don't 'hijack' threads please, it's rude. I love em and its a good idea I think the female looks like she's leaning a bit but otherwise absolutely fine, if like derpy suggested you do attachments it'd be really immense!
Probably; I plan on spriting the main cast first, and that will give me blank pieces for their designs for customization. I guess from there I'd make new pieces based on my own designs and whatnot. Leaning to the right? left? Edit: I tried a quick Rainbow Dash using the template:
Okay, I took the the template back to work on it a bit. Between Thursday and today, I managed to increase the size of the body to allow a bit more detail, especially where the eyes were concerned. I came across a few Pony sprites floating around the net which I took a few pointers from with their legs, so some credit to whoever did those for the reference material. (Old on the left, new on the right)
Looking pretty good so far, though the back legs on the new one look a little odd (shouldn't they be thicker at the top and more connected to the rump so it doesn't look like a lima bean?)
@RDash pixelart: Hmm, you should never use black outlines on a character that has no dark outline. @Topic as in a whole: This might be useful. I might try to do my own variation of pixel art (Or just use it as a excuse to draw something in pixelart :3). Yeah, it's quite good. +rep for inspiration and idea.
Thank you. ^^ Through a coat of Rainbow Dash paint over the template for practice purposes; I'm pretty pleased with it. The original nagged me at the back of my mind all day because it didn't resemble the show's designs at all. The new one's at least slightly more comparable now.

Trying my hoove at forward facing pose this time; Should be a bit easier to animate, but I'm not making any promises. Legs too long? Hooves too round? Thoughts?
Haha, well neither am I. I just picked this stuff up one day several years ago with no artistic/shading/whathaveyou knowledge and have been doing it ever since. Thanks. Since Dash got to be the first last time with the side-view template, Pinkie Pie gets that privilege this time.
@Blu-Cup: How come you say you're not an artist? It obviously is art - Pixel art, and for me it is on the same level as, i dunno, vector art or every other visual art form. You practice / work with it, so you could say you're a pixel artist.
