Ok so I have pretty bad acne, and I am about to be taking this new pill. If it doesn't clear up my face within a month, we have to keep using it. That's not the problem. The thing is, if we have to continue use, I have to get blood work once every few months for about a year, or until my face is clear. The blood work is to check that I don't have too much of the medicine inside of my bloodstream or something. Im 16, and ever since I was young I have had a HUGE fear of needles. I don't know what to do. I've been praying about it, and everything, but I still feel uneasy. Any tips for overcoming the fear, or lessening (or even completely eliminating) the pain? Thank you everypony for the help.
I had to go to the hospital for an Appendectomy once a couple months back; the way I overcame my (extreme) fear of needles was just to go through with it. There is very little, in my experience that you can do; just know that when it's over, it's over, and you won't have to worry about it for a while. It only lasts for a few seconds. Sorry I can't be of much help, but that's all I've got.
I always make sure to NOT look at the needle. Look away at a picture on the wall or bring a book and read a bit. It distracts me and it's over before I know it.
When I was younger, I had to get a shot when I went to the dentist to numb my mouth. I didn't know there was going to be a shot, and all I felt was a tiny pinch, and then it was over. I still am not quite sure that they gave me a shot.
True. I'm lucky enough to be healthy, so I don't have much experience with needles. However, I remember going to a checkup, and my older sister grew hysterical, and I remember being worried until I got the shot and realized that my sister was over reacting.
I've had a major needle phobia as well. Whenever I've had blood drawn I've passed out 90% of the time and its not fun. If you ask them I think they have smaller needles for smaller kids which are less painful that you might be able to use. You can ask them to lay down and face away when they draw the blood.
