So, I have Metallica's (as well as a BFMV cover) song "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" stuck in my head. This is thanks to it coming up in Winamp and playing it on GH:Metallica a while back. It's catch and easy to follow for singing along. Anyway, the lyrics are also nice and easy to follow (or interpret). Anyways, I've been thinking about how closely this song applies to Luna/Nightmare Moon's banishment to the moon for a thousand years. I've considered writing a piece on the idea to explore the maddening solitude for such a prolonged period for Luna, but decided that many others have probably covered something like that. Anyway, I was wondering what other songs you guys have probably applied to stuff like that, or at all. Welcome to where time stands still, no one leaves and no one will... Moon is full, never seems to change, just labeled mentally deranged. Dream the same thing every night, I see our freedom in my sight. No locked doors, no windows barred, no things to make my brain seem scarred... Sleep my friend and you will see, the dream is my reality. They keep me locked up in this cage, can't they see that's why my brain says rage? I think that fits amazingly well with the idea. "Our" can refer to both minds/personalities. This is all dark, but I mean there's a lot of light hearted stuff, too.
