So, I'm curious..what political system do you think works best? Republic, democracy, monarchy?

Me, I think the old school democracy. All votes count. The winner is the one with the highest votes. It's simple, it works, and it's been around since Ancient Greece.

Anarchy. I believe in survival of the fittest. It's the law of Nature, and should also be the law of Mankind.

Agreed, though there should be some form of leadership, otherwise, it will be conquered by another system with a leader and an organized army.

Anarchy hardly lasts for long though, power attracts others and results in either some form of Authoritarian or Oligarchy.

Oligarchy, specifically Aristocracy, but only if it doesn't end up as a Plutocracy.

Well, I live in the United States, which is a Representative Democracy. I would prefer us to head more towards Socialism (relative to our government's relationship with our economy).

A Direct Democracy is an interesting idea, but I don't think it would be easy on such a large scale...

I dislike anarchy immensely, I dislike communism immensely, I dislike fascism immensely, I dislike totalitarianism immensely, I'm not entirely keen on socialism, I'm not entirely keen on democracy, I'm not entirely keen on multiculturalism, I'm unsure about globalisation, I'm unsure about separatism.

A monarchy could work in theory, but no-one in the world could handle that much power without becoming corrupt.

Democracy is the next best thing, although in most countries you only really have a choice between two parties.

For the most part, politics exist to keep people under control.

Depends. Control and/or Order are the most common reasons for a governmental system, with the differences between the types being how much control a person or group of people have over the citizens.

They say Democracy i the People's Power, but while that is sorta true, we can control how long a political party stays in power, it's all relative, we can't exactly control what the government does, and things can become very corrupt very quickly.

What happens here is the Government seems to get all it's votes from uneducated poverty stricken people, The government can just keep promising them stuff and they get to stay in power, because the people live in this constant hope something will happen, I can bet you that they would not vote for the current Political party if they knew what really went on.

Republicans didn't help their cause by having Gingrich, Santorum, and Romney as their chosen candidates.

Rick Santorum was actually pretty good. I liked the guy. And I usually hate republican candidates.

here's my opinions on the different forms of government:
Democracy: good for keeping the people happy and the really bad people out of power, but is liable to inefficiency, polarizing of the country, and usually can be decades behind what the populace actually thinks as a whole
Monarchy/Totaliarian: Good for making swift, needed decisions, but the ruler can very easily become corrupt and unproductive.
Anarchy: Really? No ruler? Yea, let's see how long it'll be before someone comes along and TAKES that power
Communist/Socialist: Good on paper, nearly impossible in real life to fully implement.

Of these choices, I would honestly prefer democracy, because at least I have some voice in my government, but I do have my own opinions for the perfect(ish) government, but that would be a lengthy and unnessacary post(Unless y'all wanna hear about it)

"Santorum holds socially conservative positions, and is particularly known for his opposition to same-sex marriage and birth control."
"he has since changed his position to pro-life. He opposes same-sex marriage"
"he does not believe a "right to privacy" is part of the Constitution."
"He has described contraception as "a license to do things in a sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be"
"he juxtaposed same-sex marriage with pedophilia and bestiality"
"Santorum said he would continue to "fight very strongly against libertarian influence within the Republican Party and the conservative movement."[199] In an NPR interview in the summer of 2005, Santorum discussed what he called the "libertarianish right," saying "they have this idea that people should be left alone, be able to do whatever they want to do. Government should keep our taxes down and keep our regulation low and that we shouldn't get involved in the bedroom, we shouldn't get involved in cultural issues, you know, people should do whatever they want. Well, that is not how traditional conservatives view the world, and I think most conservatives understand that individuals can't go it alone...""
"Santorum promised to initiate a "war on porn" if he is elected.[201] In his official website, Santorum said that the "Obama Administration has turned a blind eye" to pornography, but promised that that "will change under a Santorum"
"Santorum rejects the scientific opinion on climate change that stresses human causation for global warming, referring to it as "junk science". He has stated that global warming is a "beautifully concocted scheme" by the political left and "an excuse for more government control of your life."[213]

He has stated a policy of "drill everywhere" for oil and that there is "enough oil, coal and natural gas to last for centuries"."

In short: Rick Santorum is an idiot. No intelligent person would run on such an unpopular, uninformed platform and expect to get elected.

Guys, we aren't talking about American politics, we're talking about the different government forms...

Yes, yes, back to the real topic here. (there's no hope for American politics anyway.)
