So we're approaching (or might have even passed) the month anniversary of Everypony Radio. First of all I'd like to thank everypony who has supported the radio in anyway shape or form, advertising us, telling friends about us or even just tuning in for the music and a good laugh in the chat, it wouldn't have made it this far without you! Now from the very start we wanted to make the Radio for you, our fellow bronies, were all volunteers here, we don't make money off the radio or Everypony and no I'm not going to ask for donations either, have no fear. I'm just trying to stress the point that since we made this for you guys, we want you guys to have a say in the direction further development leads. What do you think we're doing well? Are we missing something? Whatever it is, feel free to discuss it here, suggest new ideas and vote on the poll (you should not need to register an account) if you like any of the options.
I like the idea of scheduled shows and marathons. Gives me an idea of organization (something I know I could get more of). It wouldn't hurt to be able to hear the radio in more places too. And now here's Trixie. Because she TOTALLY endorses this radio and the goals you've put forth.
Voted too, I like the ideas of radio shows and sheduled marathons too, and I don't really think, the chat needs to be moderated more. It gets kinda random sometimes, but that's the fun of it :derpe: and it never gets offending, or just spamming except for some rare exceptions, which are dealt with right away mostly^^
Ah, my little pony from Chernobyl... Think with the brain of a dead hummingbird for a second. In case you didn't know, I, Vinyl Scratch, am a moderator. I took my time to click random stuff and vote. Then I posted that the mod, referring to myself in this case, has voted. If that's not obvious enough, then I have one thing to tell you. You're alive? We can fix that. EDIT: This sounds a lot meaner than it was intended to be.
Voted for the stuff that is important. Anyways, We need stuff like "Classic hour", where only classical music is played (for example). That is a must for the radio, i tell'ya. At least I'd know That I'd tune in at that time.
Careful the site doesn't get stretched beyond it's capacity to upkeep, also be sure to fully think through the consequences of the action, good or bad. For example, chat's gone dead now but at the same time has essentially been replaced with the radio's chat
Well, it'd be awesome if we made it a lot more authentic and professional. So I'm all up for all but two of these options.
Good guys, great! Keep the votes and suggestions coming, we're starting to get a good idea of where we need to focus our resources. Derpy, don't worry this isn't the Hive anything we undertake will be fully planned, staffed and supported.
I voted for stuff like: 1. Run scheduled "marathons" like: 'Pinkie Power Hour' - Why? Because I want a special hour dedicated to us, the classical music lovers. 2. Get broadcasts/radio shows up and airing - Why? Because Broadcasts is basically what every radio has; a radio without talk is like a TV Channel without ads after stuff. 3. More 'new' songs - Not to the radio but actually new compositions - Why? Because this is what's the radio about, right? Spreading our User's songs. 4. Spread the Everypony network, forums... ? - Why? Because We need more members, and the main focus is on the forum, not the radio. The reason why I left out the radio is because it seems like the radio's the main focus now, not the forum. The Chat died because of the Radio, for instance. Ok, now the stuff i don't encourage: 1. Expand the EPR network - [More places to access the radio] - Aren't the livestream and The Everypony Radio link in the navbar (Counting in radio.everypony.com) enough? In my opinion, the Everypony radio link in the navbar is enough. 2. More LIVE/DJ time - half of the time there's a DJ on - I think this is more than enough. Ok, the rest is basically really neutral for me, since... well... Whatever, I guess.
I pretty much agree with everything Jaret said except the spreading of the radio. I do agree that the radio is the main focus right now, but that's necessarily not a bad thing and is bound to become/is an outlet of the site. We've started getting more members because of the radio. And the embedded station into the site is a great way to advertise the site as well. Basically what we're using the radio for is to advertise the site. And the better the station, the more bronies will watch it. The more bronies that watch it, the more there is a potential of them joining the site. It's as if the station is our version of one giant commercial. After all, using the media to spread the word is the best way to get the word around. (Which I'm surprised we haven't made a commercial for the site yet) As for the chat in the site itself, the chat in the Channel has pretty much replaced it, BUT the chat in the site is much much much more versatile and better. If there was a way to combine the chat we have now and the chat we have for the station, that would be awesome. If the chat were to be fixed up some more, like the lag, then I'm pretty sure more would go to it. We can also start asking some of the chatters in the radio chat to move to the chat we have in the site. Maybe if there were a way to have the Channel screen right by the chat in the site, that could be great. Originally the station WAS to show off the music of the members, but it sort of evolved into what it is now, and is still growing. (Mainly because we didn't have enough content in the first place) As the station grows, the site will grow. And vise-versa. Like Jaret said in chat, "What forum do you know of that has a channel?" Definitely the "hook" we needed. And keeping the channel growing is definitely a must.
Sadly the lag is not something easily fixed, it's due to the method used to retrieve and send data - so naturally fixing that would pretty much equal recoding an entire chat from scratch =/ Something I'm not currently capable of doing. I could easily replace the livestream chat with the everypony one on the radio.everypony page (and make it open to unregistered users) but I fear that would only prove to be shooting ourselves in the foot as people on the livestream page and radio.everypony page will no longer be able to cross-communicate. There was something else I wanted to say but I'm just trying to get over the shock, this has proven much more useful than I anticipated, thanks for the votes guys, please do keep them coming (the posts to!).
Well were always adding new songs, but they may have been on youtube or bandcamp etc for quite a while, that basically means - should we spend resources trying to grab and air the latest pony music releases?
Caret do we even have enough classical pony music for that?Only artists I could think of are a few bgm tracks, my Lyra Octavia track (interesting to note those are already in my phones dictionary and in caps right) and that one guy who's done like 6 or so character themes (I believe that's that same person who did 10,000 years)
"caret"? I just proposed it. I'll make the tracks, if i need to. I'll do something... Hmm, I might do a Jaret animation playing the piano...
