Ok, so I've been noticing lately that more and more people are hating on Bronies. I do not understand this. We love and tolerate everyone, yet they hate us for it.
You seriously think that all bronies "love" and "tolerate" Hater hate for 3 reason as far as I'm concerned. 1) Bronies are easy to troll/anger 2) Rabid hate just to hate 3) Genuinely have had a bad experience with bronies and hate the fandom.
In my over a year of being a perfectly open brony, no-one's ever said "Hey that's gay!" to me, apart from people who turned into bronies themselves shortly after, or my family. My family still believe it to be gay.
I guess it's more of a southern thing. People around here don't care for people who like or do things differently than they do.
Interesting you should say that, I live in Corpus Christi Texas on the Texas Costal Bend. I've worn my Brony shirt in public a number of times as have some of my fellow bronies and we get nothing not even an odd look.
Seriously? Everyone here thinks it's weird and gives me odd looks at the very mention of MLP. I haven't dared get merchandise, I think my parents would disown me if I did. (exaggeration(hopefully))
I'm quite serious, in fact the Corpus Christi Brony group is having a meetup at one of the local malls downtown this saturday. I'm just hoping people show up this time, or at the least it's a bigger turnout than last time.
Actually, i find it hard to care about any kind of hate at this point. Internet = Haters. Deal with it. :derpe:
I'm able to tell close friends and family without fear of ridicule, but that's it. And about the haters, not all bronies are as kind as we all wish they were. Some give us a bad first impression to other people.
No one's ever said that to me either, though I suspect many think it. Oh, and one of my friends' dads said I must be gay if I liked "that stuff", but he never struck me as a very intelligent person. After all, his wife is head of the household and has the job to support the family while he does nothing. I am not really interested in the merchandise. 1) It is overpriced most of the time 2) I never liked action figures or collectibles of any kind 3) It will attract much more negative attention. I can convince people that the show is cool, but I will NEVER convince them that the toys are cool. Sorry. I think it depends on the person, and not the "race". You can't just stereotype bronies as "easy to anger" (Echo, talking to you) or "loving and tolerating" (@ original post). It's ridiculous to do that. You cannot characterize an entire group with a certain attitude. There will always be some who do NOT love and tolerate, and they will give the some who DO love and tolerate a bad name. It is the same way with everything; Religion (Christianity por ejemplo), Race (Some african-americans are in gangs and stuff, it makes all of them look bad), Area (Chicago does not have the best reputation for safety ever since ONE bad person, named Al Capone), etc. It really annoys me when people say "all bronies love and tolerate" because they don't. I personally know at least 5 bronies other than myself in RL, and all of them except one irritate the hay outta me. I really wouldn't want to be friends with them, and I don't even enjoy conversations with them. But online, I have met so many incredibly nice ponies who I could definitely put in the "love and tolerate" category, so you can't say none of them love and tolerate either. Stereotyping and generalization as a whole is a bad thing, people. Exactly. Even more accurately: World=Haters. Deal with it. Because there will always be at least one person who hates something, no matter how good it is.
I've seen some bronies go crazy over the simplest things. It might just be the location of the bronies, by that I mean the sites. Places like DA and the what not.
People will go after fans of Pokemon saying "Oh your too old for Pokemon". People will go after anime fans saying "You watch that gay Jap s***." (using stars here because of the rules of the forums). People will go after MMO gamers saying "You don't have a life." People will go after teenagers(mostly old people) saying "All they cause it trouble, they shouldn't be allowed here." when its more so just a small group of "bad apples". That's just a small list of the bigotry that there is in the world. Its just a part of life, no matter what it is, SOMEONE or SOME GROUP will hate it for one reason or another. Bottom line:
You want to know what it all boils down to in the end? "Stop liking what I don't like!" These haters get so flankhurt way too easily. There's your awnser.
A hater is a hater by definition because they overreact, flame, etc. All haters will act that way, because if they didn't they wouldn't be haters. Bronies, on the other hand, are not ALL that way.
