People in ancient times sometimes used to worship horses. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horse_worship

I can see that mankind even today seem to have some divine reverence for these creatures, this is especially clear in the brony community, where some have even adopted pony worship as their religion I have heard.

So what are your opinion about pony religion?

For me it is a good thing as I view the literal truth not being as important in spiritual affairs as it's moral code and ethics of the believers, and we all know the show promotes a good message, I think it is just as good as a basis for your morality as the bible.

Myself I have evidence suggesting a connection between ponies and the christian religion.

"And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. [SUP]12 [/SUP]His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. [SUP]13 [/SUP]He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. [SUP]14 [/SUP]And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses."

The white horse ridden by the Saviour might be Celestia, what other mount would be worthy? I see an alliance between Heaven and Equestria, and a world with humans and ponies living in harmony.

So what do you all think?:derpe:

If you plan on using the lessons from the show to improve the way to live from day to day, then sure go for it, but I believe such a thing is a moral code, not a religion, but who am I to say so? Whatever floats your boat.

If you were take things literally then...
    wut.

I had always thought about something like this, ever since I heard a story how some guys in Australia were trying to make a religion based around Carrot Top from the song "Beyond Her Tomb" official. I mean, it sounds fun and good in concept, but the main point of religion is faith. Your religion can't be something you choose because it sounds fun, you actually have to believe that Carrot Top is Mother Nature/God, or in your case, Celestia is in the bible. And if you do, then go for it! But if you're only doing it for the novelty, then it sorta defeats the purpose of faith and religion.

Real world religions have been founded on far dumber at worse things. I don't mind at all if some people have turned the brony fandom into a religion. I doubt many really take it seriously of course. I'd look at it the same as Pastafarian, a mock religion for people that are actually atheists. Really though at least a brony religion would be based on something good rather than bad things like many mainstream modern religions. I won't say which ones because of "discrimination" but I think we all know some very bad religion that people use as an excuse to commit major atrocities. I doubt any atrocities would come of a brony religion. Hey since most of us want to believe in something and since none of us actually know what the truth is, why not ponies?

I said that none of us know what the truth is and that is true. Some may claim to know what the truth is, but that is still a lie. In many of those cases they are lying to themselves. I know someone is going to claim that I am wrong and that they are such and such faith and they know for a fact that they are on the one true path. Well if that is what you think then you are lying to yourself and everyone else. Not bashing on anyone's choice of religions here, just stating fact.

I watch the show for enjoyment. I partake in the community ... for enjoyment. I do sometimes take lessons from the show and apply it to my life. But I'd never adopt it as a religion. I stick to my own morals and set my own goals. Ponies are here to provide me with comfort and the community for acceptance and love.

I take no lessons from the show. That'd just be plain silly.

"My imaginary friend told me to kill in his name. Nice knowing you."

On the contrary, I think it'd be silly not to.
Just because it's a show for little girls doesn't mean that it's message of "Be a good person" it's true nonetheless.

Create a religion in the United States and you don't have to pay taxes. That'd be a wonder for a lot of people.

But in all seriousness, no, I wouldn't join a pony religion. A social group is as far as I'll go. While the show has good morals and following, I think it would be a bit wrong to worship a TV show, bear in mind there are actually writers and designers who put everything together. It'd be the equivalent of worshipping the actors and stuff.

well,, honestly, I wouldn't go as far as saying it's religion (how irenic since I'm one that wants spirit of this community same way it was before). However, I think it'd be better described as way of life. We learn from episodes and all (well, most of us), and try to act that way irl, and all.
I see it same way as extreme sport community has it's own way of life. Since I'm in both communities, I can say that some parallels can be made. In general every person is, of course, individual for himself/herself, but there's certain way of dressing, or things that are acceptable or not acceptable in community, or things that are ok and not ok to do.

so to sum it up, basically, as I see it, bronies should be recognized by their actions, and basically what brony community at it's best is, same way when you see person dressed up in all colorful outfit, all labeled Neff, Analog, Etnies, etc, and you know: "oh, that person must be into some extreme sport".

    Pony religion?

A large portion of bronydom TREATS it like a religion, but is equally zealous about claiming it is not contrary to the evidence they themselves give.

    And then I lol.
