(I'm going to assume that we're doing Fates, if that's alright.) Life in the Hoshidan Army was good. Food was a plenty, friends were near, and you always had a good bed to sleep in at the end of the day. After Nohrian invasion, things remained unchanged, save for the fact that you might not see your buddy the next day. Iguru polished his longsword, fittingly named Tamen-Sei, or, Many Faces, for Iguru's reputation as a Spellsword, being able to imbue his blade with elemental properties. Tommorow, he marched towards the Nohrian border, where a large battalion of Nohr soldiers had annexed one of Hoshido's most important agricultural sectors.
-Meanwhile, across the border in the farming sector, a Revenant Knight named Levian stood at the border, his battalion prepared for a Hoshidan assault.- (Levian) *stands tall, axe blade in the ground (a la Satsuki), waiting for Iguru to arrive* *glances down at scarf, causing him to smile lightly, before regaining a stern and cold expression*
Iguru approached the enemy commander, while at the same time just on the edge of Hoshidan territory. His battalion, a well rounded force consisted of Pegasus Warriors, Clerics, Spellcasters, Archers, Swordsmen and Knights stood strong in orderly ranks. Iguru) I assume you are the enemy commander, Levian, yes? I am Iguru of the Hoshido Reclamation Army. I come bearing a message from High Commander Ryouma. He hands Levian a envelope, sealed very carefully with ornate red wax. The letter reads, "This does not have to end in bloodshed. Return the province to us and withdraw your soldiers in two hours, or we will take it back by force. You have been warned." Iguru) Have you made your decision?
(Levian) -sigh- *folds letter* I'm really sorry. I have my orders from his majesty King Garon to occupy this area. Therefore, I cannot withdraw my men from this annexed territory.
Iguru) I understand. Then I shall meet you on the battlefield. Prepare yourself. Countrymen, about face! March! With perfect synchronization, the soldiers of the Hoshidan Reclamation Army turned around, and marched towards their base of operations, a small camp by the river. Iguru looked down at a map of the area. He tied his long black hair back to make sure it wouldn't get in his face. A pegasus warrior hopped off her steed outside the tent, and walked inside. Pegasus Warrior) Sir! We have brought back locations of their soldiers. However, Clement... Her eyes welled up with tears, and she put a scrap of what seemed like a uniform on the table. Sure enough, it was Hoshidan. Had the wings symbolizing his class too. Iguru) I see. Do no worry, friend. We will not let his sacrifice be in vain. I am sure he is with the gods now. Thank you. Iguru dismissed the soldier, then marked his map with the locations of the soldiers. He then placed clay figures symbolizing his own troops on the map. The knights were be the first to charge in, and trample the weak opponents. The spellcasters would crack the tougher nuts, and archers would pick off retreating forces. The Clerics and Swordsmen would come in to play shortly after the knights came. Clerics would administer first aid and swordsmen would engage the priority targets. Pegasus Warriors were to remain overhead and spot the enemy forces as they came. Furthermore, there were groups of rebels inside the city, who were capable of providing aid to the Hoshidan soldiers, with services such as opening drawbridges to let in allies or block off enemies, and sneak attacks on isolated targets.
-Suddenly, something began pounding at the ceiling of the building Iguru was in. Then, it crashed through the ceiling, letting out a distorted roar. It was Levian's undead dragon, sent by Levian to locate Iguru.-
Iguru) What in Naga is that? Everybody, battlestations, fortify your positions! I will deal with the beast! He slipped on a pair of silver gauntlets hanging on his belt, and unsheathed Tamen-Sei. A green jewel on the his sword hand glowed, enveloping his sword in a similarly colored Aura. The very wind seemed to bend around his blade. His free hand glowed yellow, and crackled with electric magic. He seemed insignificant to the beast. But he was not going to let it hurt anybody. He swung his sword in a circular motion, cutting the tall grass around him in the dragon. A barrier of wind magic emanated from ground, sealing the dragon in the barrier until one of them was defeated. Tightening his grip, he ran at the dragon and swung. His sword bounced right off the hide, the wind magic only causing minor discomfort. Iguru) That's no ordinary wyvern... He stretched his left hand, still crackling with electricity, and shot a beam of powerful lightning at the dragon.
(Dragon) *eyes flash red when eye contact is made with Iguru* *dodges the lightning and lets out a distorted roar before flying away* GYARRRRRRROUGH!!!
Iguru's wind barrier dissipated. He sheathed his sword, and took off his gauntlets. His aide, an archer, ran to his side. Clancy) My lord, are you unharmed? Iguru) Don't worry about me, Clancy. I assume it was sent here to find us. The battle plans are on the table there. Call Shoko, have her review the plans and make revisions. We'll need them now that we know they have a dragon. Clancy) Yes, my lord. Shoko, a young girl in tactician robes examined the map, and marked notes on it. Iguru) What are we looking at here? Shoko) Your original strategy is mostly unchanged. I'm dropping the max altitude allowed for the Pegasi to fly at, as well as diverting some of our stronger men to fight the dragon if that problem arises. Furthermore, this part of Hoshido is known for thick fogs at this time of year. Our spellcasters might be able to whip up a fake fog so we can get closer to the city without being detected. Iguru) You never cease to amaze me, sister. Come, we will rally the troops and begin to march.
(Going to assume I'm Garon then?) Garon) Levian. What is the situation on the Hoshido Border? What do you know of the enemy commander?
(Levian) He is a spellsword, your majesty. So they are likely to be incorporating magic into their assault. Double agents have been planted in their army, and are ready to sabotage them. Our spies in the annex have begun to weed out Hoshidan collaborators and sympathizers. They will not retake their land.
Garon) A Spellsword? Well, those are certainly rare. Do not fail me. If we keep this province, it's crops will be able to sustain our kingdom for years on end. If worse comes to worse, however, make sure to burn and salt as many fields as you can on your retreat. A tall man wearing traditional Hoshidan armour walked into the camp, surrounded by a group of elite veterans. Ryouma) Hello Iguru. Your sister contacted me and informed me of the situation here. I believe I can be of use to you. Iguru bows. Iguru) Your highness! I am not worthy of your presence! He whispers harshly to Shoko. Iguru) Why didn't you tell me that The Prince would be here? Shoko) Last time I requested his aid, you got all worked up about how he has better things to do! Ryouma) At ease, general. Shoko, elaborate the plan. Shoko) Yes your highness. She lays the map out on the table. Shoko) We lost communications the sympathizers in the city. Which means we can't open the drawbridge to get into the city. Furthermore, we must watch out for traitors in our mist. I have partitioned our soldiers into four groups that they must stick in until further notice. If any treachery takes place, they will be killed if they resist, but if they surrender, they will be captured, and held in the camp for the time being. Then they will be sent back to the capitol for hostage negotiations. Now, this is where Ryouma comes in. He will use the Dragon's Vein, that weird magic the Royal Family can use, to open the drawbridge. He might be able to use it to inflict some extra damage as well. Iguru) Perfect! This is just what we needed. I can't thank you enough for coming down here, Your Highness. Now, begin the march! Reclamation Army, move out! As the spellcasters drew up fog to cover their approach, the massive force charged into the horizon.
(Levian) Of course, your majesty. Oh, and in case they plan to alter the battlefield, I'm going to need Camilla and her unit to join my unit. After all, she does possess Dragon Vein, and this is not a sad attempt to try and get with her. Cross my heart!
