Orangebolt was tapping his hooves on his desk as he waited for his new game to finish downloading. "95, 96, 97, 98, 99... 100!" He plugged in his VR Drive, put it on his head, and lied down on his bed. "Link, Start!" He yelled. He put in his Username and Password, and a notification appeared on his HUD. "Beta Data is available. Would you like to use the following character?: Oranolt (Stallion) He touched, "Yes." Suddenly, he was teleported into the city. "Floor One: Town of Beginnings; Welcome to The Realms of Valor!" "I'm finally back! Time to do some quests!" He ran through the town, accepting all the quests available. He walked out of the town to the fields to start his quests. He equipped a set of leather armor, and a bow, and started hunting some monsters for his first quest.
After fighting a gaggle of wild boar, Oranolt got a level up notification. "All right! Level Two! All my quests are done too, so I'll return to town." It took him about 10 minutes to he back to town, but he leveled up twice from quests and got some good loot. He went to buy some crafting supplies and start the beginners quest for Fletchery, Alchemy and Light Armor Smithing. After that was down he leveled to level 5, and put all his gained level points into some skills. He had done a lot in only four hours. He decide he'd spend his gold on crafting supplies, as well as a good sword and shield.
NMR had completed his side missions and some of his main missions, "Level four, not bad." He would return to town to retrieve his awards and would begin his newer quest, Shadow Conjuration, Weapon and Armor Enchantment, and Herbal Creation. This was too easy.
Oranolt had leveled up his crafting skills a bunch, as well as his utility and combat skills. He yawned. "I guess I'll logout." He slid his hoof across the air in a downward motion, and touched, "Logout" He got a notification on his HUD. "Error; This user is not permitted to log out. "Hey! Can anyone logout?" Everyone else did the same downward slide motion. "Hey, I can't log out!" "Me neither!" "What's going on?" Suddenly, there were countless flashes of blue light, and everyone was teleported to the main plaza. "We were teleported to the main plaza?"
Blade had work tomorrow, so he would need sleep for the night. He went to the menu, but something was rather... off. The logout button was missing. This was too odd, maybe this was some glitch? But he could have swore that he helped rid of any glitches in the Beta mode. Well, he was screwed, hopefully there was an answer to this? All of a sudden, he was in the main plaza, looking around. He was one of the taller ponies around, but above all he was pissed.
The sky turned red, and many panels appeared saying, "Warning: System Announcement!" There was a red flash, and suddenly a hooded pony appeared. "Welcome, players of Realms of Valor. Thank you for buying our game. I am Short Circuit, creator of the VR Driver and Realms of Valor. I'm sure all of you are aware that you are incapable of logging out. This is not a bug. I repeat: This is not a bug! Rather, it is a feature, of Realms of Valor! Furthermore, if your bit points are reduced to zero in the game, it will turn off the safeties of the VR Drive, releasing a powerful microwave, destroying your brain and ending your life." Everyone was in horror. "Why should we believe you?!" Yelled a player next to Oranolt. "I'll reduce my hit points to zero right now!" "Wait, no!" Yelled Oranolt, as the player next to him plunged his sword into his stomach, causing him to explode into blueish-white shards. Oranolt looked in horror, thinking why Anypony would want to do this. Short Circuit spoke up. "This marks the official launch of Realms of Valor. Good luck to you all." He dissapeared. Oranolt walked off to the side of the plaza, and threw up. "This isn't happening... This isn't happening, this is all just a dream... No, a horrible nightmare... I'll wake up and be just fine." He pricked himself with his sword, and after a little pain, he was still there. He bandaged up his his hoof, and started running to the nearest town. "If this is real, I need to head to the next town right away!"
Blade chuckled to himself, "Well, this'll be interesting." He began walking as others would panic not knowing what to do. He would trot tot he next town, a new objective in his own little brain, to kill the creator.
Oranolt had finally arrived in the next town and finished some quests. It was night fall. He sat, face down in his hooves on the table of an inn. Two players, a mare and stallion approached him. The stallion had green eyes, and a jet black, slicked mane. He was a Earth Pony who had a grey coat. His cutie mark was a shield. The mare was a unicorn who had teal eyes, a neat, red mane and a white coat. Her cutie Mark was a first aid symbol "Mind if we sit here?" Asked the mare. Oranolt looked up for a moment. "Sure..." The stallion spoke up. "Hard to believe this is really happening, eh?" "Yeah. Someone standing next to me killed himself, proving that it wouldn't kill him in real life. It was horrible..." The mare spoke. "Have you seen what happened to the respawn rooms? They became Memorial Walls! They count who has died and how many players are left. It's horrible. 200 have dies already." "Yeah... Are you guys heading to the expeditionary party tommorow?" Asked Oranolt. "Yeah! How about we party tommorow? I'm the tank, my sister's the healer, and can you Damage?" "Uh, yeah. I can do ranged or melee." "Good!" His sister nudged him hard. "Ouch! Oh, sorry, my sister says I should introduce myself sooner in the conversation. I'm Defender." "Nice to meet you. I'm Oranolt." They shaked hooves. His sister curtsied and introduced herself as Soothing Glow. "Ah, dang, out of money. Mind buying us a room?" Asked Defender. "Not a problem." Oranolt transferred some bits to his account. "We should get some rest. We have a big day tommorow. Night." Oranolt opened his room, and lied down in his bed. He was thinking about the two of them. "They seemed like nice ponies." He thought.
Blade Runner walked into some Inn, hooded and everything. He kept a low profile, making sure to complete his side missions. He sat down as the bar tender came his way, "Get ya' something to drink kid?" "Cider, give your best."
Oranolt woke up, and hit his alarm clock. He realized he wasn't in his room. He was in this game. He had hoped that it was just a dream. He stretched and equipped his gear, before heading down to the inn buffet. He poured a bowl of oats and had some eggs on the side. He took a gulp of orange juice, and saw Defender as well as Soothing Glow enter the buffet. He waved, and they sat down. "Morning you two. How'd you sleep?" "Pretty good, actually. It appears as soon as you lay down in bed and close your eyes, the system puts you to sleep." Said the large Earth Pony. "Or maybe you just conk out easily." Said Glow. "I couldn't sleep over your snoring." She followed up. Oranolt layed out a map on the table. "I was thinking about a little pre-strategy meeting planning. He plotted out their route, some plans in case of monsters and the like. Soon, they heard the bell signaling that the strategy meeting was about to start.
Slicing another head off before it disappeared in its own death, Blade Runner had been killing bears, wolves, and what ever he could get his hooves on. He had been leveling up successfully, and had completed all side missions in a matter of three hours. The only sleep he was four hours.
The party arrived in the colosseum, where they were briefed on the strategy. They were to navigate the forest in groups. If they encountered a group of powerful monsters, they would shoot a red flare, and if they won, they would shoot a green flare. In the event of finding the entrance to the labyrinth, they would shoot a blue flare. Once at that stage, they would congregate at the entrance, and map out the labyrinth. They were ready.
As he killed the last bear, he saw a flare shoot up in the sky. Immediately he ran towards the colosseum, if this was nothing important, he would raise hell.
The leader of the group, a Earth Pony named Crag, spoke into a microphone. "We're leaving in 10, if you're not in groups of 4, find a fourth!" He yelled. Oranolt looked desperately for a fourth. He saw Nightmare Realm. "Hey, you! Do you happen to be Melee DPS?"
