Midnight Sun and a few other last surviving members of the dead Equestrian military sat shivering around a campfire, the coldness of the surrounding night pressing in. Even though Midnight himself hadn't been in the military, his aunt's and brother's Commandos respected him, and that's who these soldiers were. "Never would have thought that it would happen like that." One muttered between chattering teeth. Sadly, Midnight's light control didn't extend to heat, so the best he could do was make it to were they weren't a sitting duck out in the open.
Sarge walked through the war-torn world that was Equestria. It was freezing out, but he had his duster on, so it wasn't as bad. He hid his face with his hat as usual. Keeping his identity a secret was usually top priority.
Red Glory and his old bodyguard squad of Commandos walked carefully through the remains of Canterlot, they were here for supplies, and to see if they could find any other evidence of other surviving units, but so far, both have been few and far inbetween. The occasional gunshot or two would ring out as somepony would met another and then attack each other for their supplies. As far as Red knew, the remnants of the Equestrian military was scattered across Equestria, usually being drawn together even closer as they tried to survive this harsh new world. The air was chilly, but they didn't mind, their old combat fatigues kept them warm for the most part as they made their way through dead streets and leaning buildings.
Sarge soon entered Canterlot via the train tracks. It was the easiest way to sneak in undetected. He planned to search the shops and houses for food, then be on his merry way. Hopefully he wouldn't have to kill anyone. His first stop was the bakery.
"Bloody Military...So eager to go test out their new weapons..." Facade muttered as he wandered the streets of his old city. Canterlot had been turned into a complete mess, with a few refugees here and there shooting at each other over meager supplies. Thankfully Facade had a saddle which contained an ample amount of food, and the water wasn't to contaminated to not drink after boiling. He looked back to make Etereo hadn't gotten lost before trotting on. He was sure he could rally some of the poines together, perhaps starting with the countryside and build up. But he needed protection first, which if he came across any military units, would be easy enough to gain. "My lord, I believe Ponies are coming this way." Etereo whispered, her ears twitching. Facade sighed and quickly trotted over to a pile of rubble to hide behind with Etereo right behind him. "Remember, not a peep." Facade reminded her.
Iron was walking though a town that said on his map Ponyville as he looked around he wondered what this place looked like and all the ponies that lived here he had heard the famous Mane 6 lived here but they are most likely dead. He inched farther away from the flaming buildings and also anything sharp that could pierce his skin and give him an infection the only medical thing he knew how to do is put a band-aid on. He sighed and wondered around the town looking for supplies he needed metal was on the top of his list to build weapons and other tools.
Eluuna hid in her bakery, shivering. She was cut badly on the side, and tears were running down her cheeks. A male earth pony had run in, and seen her. When he tried to get past, she had stood her ground. The injury was a result. "Com'on Luna, get ahold of yourself." she said quietly. Crawling over the open canisters of flour and sugar, she pulled her mint leaves out of the counter, and quickly made a small bandage. Wincing, she put it over her wound. When she had tended to it, she crawled back to the counter and went back into her hiding place.
Red lead his unit past some rubbish and towards a bakery that looked promising. They kept quiet and stuck to the shadows, gun-saddles at ready as they entered the small bakery, ready to fire at anything that dared attack them.
Sarge carefully entered the bakery, keeping his revolver and repeater rifle at the ready. If was rather dark, so looking around to examine the place was difficult. "Anypony home?" He said.
Eluuna heard the noise, and peeked out. Her eyes were blurry, and she blinked a couple of times to see a pony. A jolt of fear came, and she pressed her hoof against her mouth.
Sarge soon found ten gun-saddles pointed at him, "That's far enough friend." Red said, stepping into view with the others, "Don't give us trouble, and we'll leave you alone, got it?"
Sarge looked at the guns with not a hint of fear, "I ain't lookin' for trouble, Mister. Trust me. Just looking for food like everypony who isn't dead or dying."
Eluuna heard the words and peeked out a little further. "Dead, or dying, ha! Which one am I?" she thought.
Red motioned for his soldiers to stand down, "Alright then. Hm, a single backery for 11 ponies, does not seem like it will bring in a whole lot if its even split. Eh, we have plenty of dehydrated food, we'll just take a few loaves and the rest is yours." Red looked around, "If any's left."
Iron had seen everything now it was a very large tree but it was hollow and noticed that the inside was filled with furniture but most of the tree had fallen and the only thing he could noticed were the books piling high on the floor. He looked at the tree and thought of splinters but he remembered he had already made shoes for shattered glass he put them on quickly and walked over to the mountain of books. He grabbed one covered in ash and blew it away for it to reveal a "Daring Do" book Iron smiled and put it into his pack and he started to search through the books that would be useful like a medical book and some kind of survival guide.
Eluuna reached to her left, and flicked on the lights. She remained hidden. She didn't want to blow her cover yet.
"Glad we could come to an agreement, Mister." Sarge said, looking around, deciding to check behind the counter. As the lights flickered on, he noticed a mare who appeared to be hiding. "Uh, hello there." He said to the mare.
Facade peeked out of the rubble and noticed they had entered the bakery. With a sigh of relief he nodded his head at Etereo as they began to walk past, when he suddenly had an idea. "Muscle eh?" He muttered to himself. He had the jump. His very precense would surprise and thus weaken there minds...maybe... "I would've advise your plan, my lord. If it fails we could be in a lot of trouble." Etereo commented in a hushed tone, knowing his look. Facade threw a dismissive hoof in her direction. "Then we go as diplomats! Offer trade. We are running low on ammunition for the rifle." He said looking at the saddle on her back. "We have more food then we need. Come." He said before walking towards the bakery. "And perhaps...If we can make them lower there guard. They can be mine." He muttered to himself with a grin as the building grew closer.
Red suddenly went still as the lights flicked on. He motioned to his troops and they spread through the bakery, Red himself almost tripped over Eluuna as he looked for the culprit, "Good Celestia! Do you need help?!" he asked seeing Eluuna's wounds after seeing just wait he had tripped over.
