While at work today I was posting on different forum's roleplay thread (which I've been a big part of for a while/long story) and thinking damn but it's hard to remember which user was which character in the story especially when a fair few people you don't know outside of that thread get involved (for e.g. I only really go to this site anymore for that roleplay).. So anyway I thought hey, what if you could make their posts appear under the name of their character? Yes! And with some quick thinking and theoretical experimentation I think it'd be entirely plausible! You'd just edit a profile field here called 'Alias RP Name' or something: http://www.everypony.com/forums/profile.php?do=editprofile To your desired name and your posts would be posted (via your normal profile) under the Alias name in any threads within the roleplay forum! I haven't tried it in practice, nor is it a perfect solution (if you even consider this a problem), for example if you have two role-plays/two-threads the name would affect both... But I thought I'd throw this out there see if any ponies might actually be interested before I spend time implementing or developing the idea further.. Happy Roleplaying!
Wow. This seems really really useful. I love this idea. I'd use it... If my OC wasn't named Blize. But this could really be useful for people who don't use their username as their character name.
I think this might be good. The RP forums might get a little boost because of this, but we'd need to direct people to it to become majorly useful.
It sounds like a benefit to the RP forums, in my opinion. I don't see the harm in just providing it as an option at the very least.
