I don't move from Fort Worth, Texas to Orlando, Florida for almost one and half weeks from now, but last night I had a goodbye party with my best friends in Texas to officially say "goodbye" to them (don't get me wrong, we are still going to hang out after the event. It was just for everybody to say their goodbye to me before I move). I only met the first one at AnimeFest 2008, and started meeting the other friends of that within two or three months, but within a year or two we not only started becoming a group of best friends, but like a family of brothers and sisters. We had good times, bad times, fun times, emotional times, epic times, drama times, and all other times in-between and I wouldn't change a thing (ok, maybe a few bad moments). We became a family of friends who help each other in any situation without a second thought, but for literal-family reasons, I have to move away from them all.
I will put immediate family in front of my to-do list, but I still feel sadden by this situation. I see friendship as a very important part of life. Having good friends helps you feel better about yourself, like that your life is worth something to someone other than your parents, and keeps you from going down dark/stupid paths and doing dark/stupid things loneliness usually makes you do.
The point I'm trying to make here is to always cherish and respect your best friends for how they are to you, what they done for you, the good bad and emotional times you had with them, and what they mean to you as well as what you mean to them. Because they can be as much as a family to you as your own mom dad and siblings, and that most likely one day (whether if it's by moving, death, or whatever reason) those friends will be gone for the rest of your life, leaving you with nothing but memories and pictures of the good times you had with them. So even if your friends aren't part of the "cool crowd" and act a bit nerdy and/or stupid sometimes, always appreciate that they want to spend their time with you, while you're still with them and after.
