Since Season 4 is close to a year away and I'm a big Spike fan, I can't help but wonder, "What will Spike be doing now that Twilight is a princess?" My main fear that Twilight doesn't need Spike anymore, causing him to either live on his own in Ponyville get a new role entirely. I wrote two DeviantArt journals based on this idea. One for me questioning what his new role will be and one where I've come up with possible scenarios for Spike that could make him a more likable character if he's no longer Twilight's #1 assistant. http://bigsims3030.deviantart.com/journal/Spike-s-Role-in-Season-4-357195051 http://bigsims3030.deviantart.com/art/Scenarios-for-Spike-in-Season-4-364583770
Mfw Spike is confirmed for more of his own episodes The pet-sitting one (for which I didn't even remember the name for) was the most boring, worst episode of MLP ever. I hope the creators at least make him do something in this season so that it's worth it. I don't think Spike will leave Twilight, there may be an episode where he questions whether he's needed any more but I think they'll stick together. Bear in mind his worst fear is Twilight kicking him out/him leaving (see the door scene in the Crystal Empire episode). Twilight's like his mother and he would never leave her side, he's too loyal. Like the new Rainbow Dash.
Is it fair when I make the argument when I say that I feel there are one or two instances where I felt Spike was more loyal than Rainbow Dash?
Well, Spike does double as Twilight's assistant. I'd imagine that as a princess she would have even more need of an assistant now than she did before. And with all the episodes and scenes that had to do with the bond between Twilight and Spike and how they'll never separate and blah blah blah, I don't think Spike is going anywhere, even if Twilight doesn't need him in the role as an assistant anymore. Chances are Spike will have more and more complex duties now that he is an assistant to a neurotic princess, so look for episodes that have to do with him acclimating to even more responsibility. Hopefully they will show a bit of personal growth and not display him as being utterly incompetent.
That is one positive prediction I had. I think like Twilight's role has been taken to the next level, so will Spike's. I'd imagine that he's going to grow up a bit so he can be suit to assisting an princess.
