No thread for science yet? I am disappoint. Anyhoo. Discuss science here. As for me, I'm a keen quantum physicist (probably due to my materialistic instincts), so I just look at the standard model of elementary particles all the time. Other than that, I'm interested in many other aspects of Physics, some of Chemistry and some Astronomy. Not so much Biology, though. Wondering why I made this thread? This is why: It's magical. Also, Higgs Bosons.
They're on their way to make cloaking technology. That will be helpful.
Anything with Michio Kaku. Here's a couple of great videos, but there are many, many more: I could listen to him all day. My main interests in are practical science (like that skin gun and cloaking) and space. Because space is seven kinds of awesome.
Speaking of scientific breakthroughs, here's what happened in my science lesson: http://b-dog1996.deviantart.com/journal/A-scientific-breakthrough-281818272
A bit of Benoit Mandelbrot, for you. Math has it's place in Science, and Benoit is the mind behind The Fractal Geometry of Nature! So here, have this Mandelbrot set, a bit of a mind buck.
A science thread with quantum physics, Michio Kaku and fractal geometry on a pony forum?! Too much awesome That skin gun is amazing, spray on skin has been around for a while now, but this takes it to another level. And I have to agree with RonstaPony, anything with Michio Kaku is great, I've never had any idols in my life but Dr. Kaku is getting pretty darn close to changing that! When I first found his BigThink videos I was up until 4:00am watching every single one. Of all his videos my personal favourite is below. You do? I can't say I recognise you sorry, I remember people by their faces (or avatars in the case of the internet), I'm absolutely terrible with names :derpe: Yup, March. I was the 10th person to sign up to this wonderful forum. Have I returned? Well, maybe. I went on hiatus for quite a while and when I returned this community had become huge. It's size was and still is kind of intimidating, I was used to Everypony being a pretty quiet place with a small number of regulars, it's very different now and I'm not quite sure how to work myself back into the community. I tend to be a lurker these days, I'm here every other day, but I am trying to be a more active member. A science thread will always help though!
I'll give it my best. Thank you and likewise And so as to not go too far off-topic, here's a more aesthetically pleasing quantum levitation video, not that quantum levitation isn't a sight for the eyes anyway.
(Big Pony Hug) I'm studying to become a Physicist and Astronomer- I'm particularly interested in time and multiple demensions. I've enjoyed keeping tabs on research concerning the Hadron Collider and the Higgs Boson as well as String Theory. I love just about anything science related to watch- even biology. I really liked a NOVA documentary I watched recently "Absolute Zero" http://www.youtube.com/embed/NqV3clvlC4Q -Discovery Channel: The World is Just Awesome I love the big bang. I love the stars at night.
