YT's stupid copyright system prevents me from posting a decent clip from the episode, but i think you can figure out what part i'm talking about by watching the above video

I see some similarities, but that's not really surprising.
The whole "villain-is-defeated-by-the-power-of-love" thing had been done to death long before MLP came around.

In that scene, I never really understood why they ran forward. If they'd gone back to the end of the room, where the glass had already been broken, there wouldn't have been any glass to fling at 'em, what with all the windows being broken an' all. They'd have been safe, for the moment at least. Instead they decided to run past some windows which could have been broken at them.
Not that it matters. They weren't even scratched by the shards anyway.

    Anyway, I agree with Ridley.

But like that? I mean, that I know the power of love is a bit cliche but how often in media does the power of love created a giant ball of light/magic that rapidly expands to defeat the bad guy via removal from the scene. Well, at least Chrysalis didn't explode.
