Spoiler: Summary: When the Cakes need a babysitter to watch their twin toddlers, Pinkie Pie decides to take on the task, but she soon realizes she is woefully unprepared for the challenge and must think quick to keep the young children under control. Spoiler: ...Wait! The Cakes have twins? o_o Source Anyhow, I'm really looking forward to this episode (for obvious reasons if you read the spoilers). Hoping for a song, too, but I'm not too picky. ;P EDIT: Warning: there will definitely be spoilers if you scroll down! After all, if everyone had to use spoiler tags in this thread until the episode aired, that would just be silly.
I hope that the twins look more like the school-age ponies and Pipsqueak than that scary-ass baby pony in mysterious mare-do-well.
Hmm, sounds kinda similar to Stare Master. Oh well, I'm sure it'll still be awesome I eagerly await the return of Pinkamena :derpe:
Yeah, the babysitter plot was already used in Stare Master, so I assume there's going to be something different in this episode. It would be interesting to see Pinkie go through some sort of character development, but the show is fairly continuity-light (with the occasional nod to previous episodes, which are always nice). In any case, glad to see best pony getting another episode. ;P
Yes, it will be interesting to see how Pinkie will react when she has to deal with this responsibility. I can think of so many things that could go wrong. It's Pinkie Pie, how responsible can you be?! Or it could be a twist and Pinkie turns out to be the best babysitter ever haha. Also I wonder how they will introduce the twins as they don't seem to live with the Cakes, unless they have a home outside of Sugercube Corner.
It's possible we just haven't seen them? Then again they're toddlers so you'd expect the Cakes to keep an eye on them. Maybe the Cakes don't live in Sugarcube Corner? I don't seem to recall it ever being stated that they do...
Maybe because they are just babies then don't know how to control it. I dunno. I think it was just to make crazy things for Pinkie to deal with.
I loved this episode! The twins were so cute, and Pinkie was hilarious. I think the reasoning behind them being "powerful" might be because newborn foals grow quite fast, and in real life are able to start walking soon after birth. So it only makes sense that since the twins were 1 month old during Pinkie's babysitting, they would show some sort of flying and magic. Plus as Twi and Rarity said, young Unicorns tend to have "episodes" where they can't necessarily control their magic. It surprised me when Pumpkin Cake levitated herself, and used magic to walk through a solid object. But I will admit, during the scene where the twins weren't in their crib and Pinkie started freaking out, I thought she had fell asleep and was dreaming this.
Great episode. Though, anypony think the Cakes were somewhat bad parents? I mean like wanting to fly and chewing on stuff were the twins's bad habbits and they're only babies so Mr and Mrs Cake should've let them continue with their bad habbits until the twins got older but that's my opinion. Anyways, I think this episode outdid Stare Master.
Where was there evidence they are bad parents? I didn't see them scolding the babies for anything. For all we know, it seems that it was their first time flying and using magic during Pinkie's babysitting, which was why it was such a surprise to her. The Cakes look like very nice parents, as they knew all the "cues" the babies were giving, like when they were hungry, or needed to be burped.
Just finished it. The episode was okay, not my favourite, but okay. It did make me realise 2 things though. 1. I prefer Twilight to Pinkie. 2. I have trouble enjoying simple things without applying dark and often innapropriate dimensions to them in my mind. I won't go into detail, but I'll use Pinkie's playful attitude towards the babies at the beginning as an example. I couldn't help but see some pretty sick vibes coming from that, even if it was totally innocent and platonic. Other than that, interesting to see some canon laid down about pony genetics. This is certainly going to give some of the overanalysists in this fandom something to mull over.
Hmm. I suppose I saw minor "cupcakes" vibes on some of Pinkie's facial expressions toward the kids, and when she started tweaking out when they went missing.
At the part where pinkie was trying to get the twins to take a bath, anypony noticed the shin chan refrence?
I haven't seen that show enough to understand a reference from it. Still pretty cool they did that though.
