^ this. So much potential and it was nothing but disappointing. We see 1.5 events? The second event doesn't even finish. And, oh look, there's Spike ruining things again. He should have migrated with the other dragons back when he had the chance. Rescuing him ended up being the worst decision ever. :/ The princesses could and would have stopped the ice. We know they kept their magic, see Twilight lighting the torch with magic, so they would have saved everypony. Just Twilight spoonfeeding Spike another chance that he FINALLY took advantage of. Can you tell that I don't like Spike yet?
Yes!! FINALLY SOME SPIKE RECOGNITION!!! An episode where spike doesn't cause a problem is a GREAT episode! Spike is a great character and I'm glad to see him recognized. At least some pony apreciates the great and honerable spike the brave and glorious! I like the lesson because it is one that I personally have learned. Spike is really an underdeveloped character and I actually feel very connected with him. The story on this was just great. A story about believing in yourself and not being down on yourself, something I've had to deal with multiple times with myself or others. The best part was when spike saved the day! All in all 8/10
Yep, too much hype killed the episode. In any other case I'd give this episode a 5 or 6 but there was a lot of weight riding on it to go out on a high before the finale, so it's more of a 3. Pinkie was the highlight of the episode for me and seeing the Royals together is a rare sight. Also, why didn't the Princess's help? they clearly had the ability to use magic if twilight used hers on Spike at the opening ceremony... And where's Maud when you need her to obliterate a giant Ice boulder. It's just disappointing that we saw little of the actual games because I wanted to see some Griffon's and some high-action moments. I guess they are putting all they're resources into the finale... which they've bloody spoiled with all the previews in the filler advertisements.
I was so busy focusing on how much Spike ruined this episode that I forgot to mention a few minor details, like Octavia, Cheese Sandwich, both of Twilight's parents, and Gilda in the stands, the return of Blueblood and the Saddle Arabians, those awesome ice arrows, and of course, more Luna.
So many Royals. I feel like I need to watch this again to fully appreciate the amount of characters that were in this. I think Dash was racing Lightning Dust in the relay.
RD was definitely racing Spitfire. I liked the episode. I empathized a lot with Spike's predicament, as I have the same problems.
Even though I saw it at 12:30 p.m. instead of 10:30 a.m. I still watched and enjoyed it a lot, all in all it was a good episode.
I also forgot to mention the fact that Equestria apparently has the technology to disable Unicorn magic.
I don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but the episode wasn't as good as a lot of other episodes. In fact, I'm pretty sure this was the worst episode of Friendship is Magic yet.
:Trollestia: Am i the only one thinking Prince Blue-blood was forced into an arranged marriage with the mare to his left?
I see what you did there. Also, headcanon accepted. However, knowing what I know of Blueblood, I'm guessing that that poor mare was the one forced into the marriage.
I know they pretty much used every single pony character they ever designed and more but.... Spoiler Also, there doesn't seem to be any duplicate characters(okay just a couple), not that it matters all too much. I very much enjoyed this episode. The only part I didn't like was Spike failing to sing the Cloudsdale anthem. I'm not going to give it a rating out of 10 because that's just stupid, so I'll just say it was a good and enjoyable episode that I would watch again.
Looking at that picture, I have some questions/observations... How did Cherry Jubilee get a seat in the Royal box? ... "You three ponies that saved Equestria on multiple occasions? SIT WITH THE RABBLE! Oh, you run a cherry farm? Please, have a seat with the Princesses." Bulk Biceps apparently gets his physique from his mom. I'm pretty sure Prince Blueblood is there alone; both the mare to his left and the pony next to her seem to be in Egyptian themed garb, so I'm thinking those two are together.
