Since Season 4 is almost over, how good or bad would you say it was? Best episode? Worst episode? What do you hope to see in Season 5?
Many would probably fight me on this, but I'd say it's been on par with seasons 1 and 2 - no better, no worse. Which is a good thing, if you're someone like me who's perfectly content when a show maintains its level of quality instead of constantly striving to outdo itself. If you prefer the latter, I can predict that you'd think this was the worst season so far. As for best/worst episode, I can't speak for anyone else, since that's entirely subjective. But for me, the most disappointing episode was Rainbow Falls, and the best was Pinkie Apple Pie. All I can ask of se05 is that the show's quality doesn't nosedive, but I would like to see the following: -A recurring villain (as opposed to one-shots) -Twilight's responsibilities as princess fully explored -An episode delving into what AJ's parents were like, and what happened to them (if Hey Arnold! could do it without it being "too dark", I don't see why MLP can't do it) -A little less emphasis on slice-of-life episodes that are barely tied together, and more emphasis on adventure episodes that are threaded together
I keep my expectations at a moderate level and I completely agree with Lowline. I don't expect the creators to crap out gold every episode and I thought this season was great. I think a lot of people are confusing an episode being bad with the fact that they just don't have an interest in ponies anymore.
I try to go into these seasons/episodes without expectations but I have been extremely pleased with this one! We've had a good mixture of episodes be it the characters they were about or the lessons that were learned. Also, I've quite enjoyed the overlying arcs what with Sparky being a princess and the Equestria games. And, although the actual games episode was a bit of a let-down (still enjoyable though), it left the last two episodes to close the other arc. I'm looking forward to the finale and I don't think the writers will disappoint me. They seldom do.
Overall I think it was a good season. There are actually so many episodes that I thoroughly enjoyed that I don't even know which ones to mention. There were probably a few episodes that I enjoyed a little bit less, but I don't remember anything being terrible. I most certainly don't remember feeling like I ever wasted my time watching any of the episodes. I'd definitely take Season 4 over Season 3. Probably the main reason I can list is that this season had more episodes that featured all of the mane 6. I am more likely to enjoy an episode with all of them in it, because their interactions with each other are a big part of why I enjoy the show. Season 2, and especially season 3 seemed to move away from that, so it was nice to see a little more of it in Season 4.
Another good season. I can't say that I enjoyed every episode, but most of them exceeded my admittedly low standards for entertainment. I will say that I have high hopes for the new villain, but after Nightmare Moon, Discord, Chrysalis, and Sombra, the bar has been set so high that I worry the writers won't be able to reach it again. After the Alicorn drama and the release of Equestria Girls, I know that many people feared that the quality of the show would decline in Season Four. I was quite pleased to see that it did not. In fact, I know that many people are saying that it's even better than Season Two.
Great season thus far, still haven't seen the finale episodes of course though. All the episodes up to this point have been great for me. Though I am quite easily entertained. I liked this one better than season 3 and season 1. It's hard to say between season 2 and 4 which is better. Maybe the season finale will decide who knows.
it's okay, it could have been better but it did have a good applejack episode for the first time since season 1.
I became a brony about February so obviously, season 4 was my first season. I honestly enjoyed it very much! Especially, as Lowline said, exploring Princess Twilight's responsibilities as, well, princess. I really enjoyed Weird Al's cameo S4E12. That was freakin' epic.
I can't really add anything that hasn't already been said, and at the risk of sounding like a broken record, I really enjoyed this season. The animation quality continues to improve, and the experimentation in the earlier episodes with darker palettes and stories was a welcome change. Daniel did a great job composing a score of new songs, and as always the voice acting, writing, and production has been top-notch. Though I'm hardly objective enough to form an honest critique. With so much that happened though it's difficult to point out one individual episode as a favorite. But in general what I've loved about this season is that the stories tended to be more character focused. They also shared the spotlight pretty evenly with the main cast, and even those outside it, making it feel more diverse. If I had to pick though, Pinkie Apple Pie definitely sits at the top of my list. While I still won't claim favorites, I tend to gravitate towards Pinkie and Applejack the most. It also had my favorite character outside the six, Big Mac, who they did so much with this season I can't believe it. Add in one of the best songs of the season in my opinion, and a heartfelt story, and it's hard to beat. The only real issue I had this season was how they handled the conclusion of the Equestira games. That didn't however prevent me from enjoying the episode anyway though. I try not to go into seasons and episodes with too many spoilers or expectations. Preferring instead to just remain oblivious (pretty par for the course anyway) and just let the show take me wherever it wants to go. But mostly, I just hope they continue to put the same level of quality and care into the next season as they've done for all the previous.
I`ve found this season ther worst. focusing on the amazing blunders of plot device... I mean spike, the filler episode crusaders, and episodes that don't go anywhere. so far theres been one good episode. flutterbat.
So far I enjoyed this season quite a lot. It met many of my expectations, gave some new characters, kept me entertained which is the point. Yea it had filler eps, and some more Spike than I wanted, but eh. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
Season 4 in 50 seconds. Contains a couple bad words I think.
Well, as hesitant as I was to call this the "best" season, all modesty pretty much has been tossed aside so I'll say it... SEASON 4 IS BEST SEASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh sure, it me took until the end to decide but it was well worth the wait!!!
This season has been very good and much better than I anticipated after a few upsets with Season 3. I prefer Season 2 because it has more of my favorite episodes but Season 4 has some great stuff. Favorite Episodes: - (E26) Twilight's Kingdom Pt.2 - (E02) Princess Twilight Pt.2 - (E07) Bat's! - (E18) Maud Pie - (E10) Rainbow Falls Most Disliked Episodes: - (E16) It Ain't Easy Being Brezzies - (E20) Leap Of Faith - (E05) Flight To The Finish - (E09) Pinkie Apple Pie - (E14) Filli Vanilli My only gripes are having too much Spike & Applejack, I personally just don't care much for them. There was also a lack of interesting antagonists which was a downer because I do love to see how the Mane 6 prevail against a new (or recurring) threat.
In my opinion Season Four is the best Season of the show, Season Four has surpassed Season Two as my favorite Season.
