-Synopsis- The Cutie Mark Crusaders discover that Big McIntosh has a crush on Sugar Belle, the baker from Starlight Glimmer's village. They encourage Big Mac to confess his feelings, but he is interrupted by Feather Bangs, a pompous stallion who also has affections for Sugar Belle. The Crusaders help Big Mac compete against Feather Bangs using romantic methods learned from fairy tales, but Sugar Belle is overwhelmed by their grandiose advances and rejects both stallions. Dejected, Big Mac and the Crusaders find a more suitable gift for Sugar Belle by building her a new bakery display case like she always wanted. Sugar Belle is delighted and accepts Big Mac's feelings, while the Crusaders decide to help the brokenhearted Feather Bangs find new love with his own admirers. *********************************************************************** As a Big Macintosh fan, I enjoyed this episode immensely--though I would have preferred to see something horrible happen to Bieber-Horse. It's nice to see him getting more fleshed out in the last few seasons, beyond just being Applejack's strong, quiet big brother.
I was TOTALLY expecting Gaston Bieber to be quickly discarded like yesterday's trash after the whole ordeal. We see that all the time in love triangle style episodes but really, he and Big Mac were doing the same thing. However, we as viewers are more prone to bias because we already know and love that big red lunk so I really like how they handled the loser in that particular duel. His cockyness was pretty much just a defense mechanism for his own shyness. Then we find out that he was just a lonely dude who wanted a girlfriend too. Very sweet of the CMCs to jump in and give him a hoof. TIDBITS: Charlie's Lil' Angels!!! Autotuning in a MLP song... BLEH!! And of course, there was some of this!! Overall: 8/10
Feather Bangs made the whole episode unberable. That kind ofmusic makesd me nervous, and I hate Justin Bieber with a passion.
Dear Princess Celestia, Today I learned that the triplets from Beauty and the Beast have been transformed into ponies. I do not think Feather Bangs is going to be able to walk tomorrow, nor be able to get rid of the grin on his face. Also, what's with all the Eskimo kissing? Faithfully Yours, Dragonbait P.S. Something needs to be done about the Cutie Mark Crusaders. They cause havoc wherever they go. Perhaps you have a boarding school for wayward fillies that has three openings?
Yeah, Bieber-Horse was horrible, but I think they did it like that on purpose. I mean, can you think of more stereotypical shallow douchebag than Beiber? Of course it had to be him.
Doing this can get annoying. But it's still better to be safe than sorry. In other words... this is your weekly 'viewer discretion' warning. Spoiler Just like the episode title... there's not much I can say about this one. To be honest... I feel like this is starting to become a 'running gag' where the show ships Big Mac with someone. This time with one of the 'Our Town' ponies Sugar Belle. It was good to see that the CMC learned their lesson from the love potion fiasco yet they tried something from a fairy tale instead. THAT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS. The we have 'Feather Bangs.' Who's either an N'Sync or a Justin Timberlake wannabe. Clearly. Which made him... annoying. Unsurprisingly the CMC antics don't work and end up causing problems. The sing off... was kind of funny I guess but then it just became something that was lasting way too long as far as I'm concerned. Eventually the episode ends with the obvious conclusion of just doing something nice for the pony in question instead of trying to impress them and apparently the N'Sync/Justin Timberlake wannabe has trouble talking with other ponies so the CMC help with that? When did they become 'love experts'? Either way about the only thing this episode had going for it was it's hilarity. LOTS of funny moments. I didn't hate this episode... it just... wasn't the greatest. Oh well. Current Status: Stay: 70% Leave: 30% No change because I just didn't feel like this episode deserved the stay % to increase. Like I already said I didn't hate the episode but it wasn't the greatest either.
Unpopular opinion: I liked the Feather Bangs songs. It's called "pop" music for a reason. It's popular. They were catchy, deal with it.
This is mostly my Asrpegers talking. My mental condition makes find Feather Bangs annoying. I...don't like to talk about it, but his kind of music just make me nervous. To be honest, the episode was a chore to watch for me. You see my avatar? I relate to her, in many ways. Like her, there are things that (lor lack of a better word) "trigger" me, and I can't help it, and I can't explain why. It's like the broccoli pizza. She hates it, but she can't really explain why, and it's not something that everyone hates. But if someone offers her a slice of broccoli pizza, she flips out, and she can't help it.
