Twenty years ago, robotics as advanced as the police or security robots that help patrol the streets, or even the robotic maids that help clean your home would have been absolutely impossible. It wasn't until 2021 that the industry seemed to truly kick-off. The world today was becoming more advanced then the brightest of minds couldn't even comprehend over a hundred years ago, awakened from a dormant slumber that has truly unlocked the potential of the human race. The collective efforts of a society that adored technology were coming to witness the activation of a new being, supposedly the first non-human sentient intelligence of all time. He was a child of the new age, a reincarnation of an event that could only be described as biblical in scale alone. His name was ADAM, a name that would never be forgotten. He was the first to truly show his creators the limit of human technological ability, and the first to demonstrate to mankind the proper definition of fear. He was going to go online at 11.43am, five minutes from now...
Alvin rushed through the labs, flashing his name tag at each checkpoint and person holding a gun. This was a moment of triumph, but inside he was gripped if fear. He has help develop parts of the software used for this new sentient computer. Despite his protests, he was forced to leave programming a fail-safe to a separate team. Still, he hoped for both failure and success as rushed to the demonstration.
"Now... lets see..." Jack was working in his prosthesis trying to hack into the security camaras of the place where the demostration was going to be. "There we go..." he managed to acces them undetected fourtunately for him. He wanted to see this new... thing, why? Because it used some of his technology for it. He wanted to see what they were going to use it for.
Resting in his Dojo, Milan was sitting in the middle of a large arena like area. The Dojo was he size of a target, a quarter of it being an actual Dojo while the other parts were either classes within wall and doors or historic items displayed like a museum, which people had loved to go see the ancestry of Asia. Milan was very proud of his work, especially as a teacher of fighting and weapon classes, he had bee doing this for about twelve years, and would continue till his dying days. He had no children nor a wife, and didn't care if he had one, either would work out for him just fine. He took sip of Green Tea, whilst meditating in perfect, serene silence.
Dozens of people were stuck inside of a large room, roughly the size of a large science lab. Most of these men were wearing lab-coats, revealing that the bulk of the operation was being attended by the hard-working scientists that eagerly waited to see their work, even life's-work for some, literally come to life. Some others also had come into attendance, including dozens of news reporters and privileged people from the general public. The terminal on the other side had some screens amongst plenty of other technological equipment to activate something magical. ADAM, named after the biblical figure, the first AI construct. ADAM contained an intelligence that put together the combined intelligence of the entire human-race within a time-span of over 200 years. His seemingly god-like intelligence was thanks to having the combined history, scientific, technological information alongside every-recorded human learning placed within his database. He was built to become a protector, to show the human-race that an Artificial Intelligence would revolutionize human-history. It was such a shame that in foresight, humanity didn't create what they thought they would achieve. Time until activation: 3 minutes 29 seconds....
Sorry about that, my internet was having problems. Delete this post when you are done. Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
Alex walked into the crowded room sighing with relief.he was determined to watch ADAM go online personally. so he went in as a repairman in case something happened while ADAM was going online. "Can't wait for this..." he tried finding a clear spot to see ADAM but eventually he did. "this...is gonna be amazing."
Turning on his TV in the office, the Dojo was closed for today since the first A.I. would be online today. He sat down, grabbing a rice roll sweetened with teriyaki sauce and sweet and sour honey, he had few more. He didn't think that an A.I. would be necessary for this time, he felt they were not prepared for it 'Everything has it flaw' He thought to himself as he continued to slowly eat his rice roll and watch the screen of his small television.
The strange man leaned over a computer close to ADAM. He was one of the men responsible for the creation of this new being, and as it was, he was eager for the birth of something miraculous. He was waiting for Alvin to do his part, as of now. The two were good friends it seemed... yet even Alvin was not aware of Adrian's "condition." Somewhere beyond the security cameras, the men in charge of ARK were watching as these great minds create a new form of life. A strange man indeed, wearing the attire of a priest, yet being a man of science. And not all too particularly fond of showing his face, wearing a multitude of masks, though this being a habit that the other men working on the same project as him. He was often known as either the King in Black, or the Yellow King, due to a symbol he is often associated with: A black king chess peice with a blank yellow mask upon it. In fact, he created the avatar of the AI, designated ADAM, to be a male, clad in all black, save for the distinctive blank yellow mask. As for the moment, he himself was wearing his own yellow mask, sitting silently...
Alvin pushed through most of the crowd before finally meeting up Adrian. "King," he said he looked over at ADAM, the glasses recording everything. "Everything checks out on all 5 floors. Networking, power, building integrity, everything." He looked over to see him wearing a mask. "Seriously? We're about to make the breakthrough of the century, neigh, MILLENNIUM and you're still wearing a mask?" Alvin seemed like he wanted to see more before he took a seat at neighboring computer and began going over some final checks. "Hell with it. Look, everything's clear to go. It would take an act of God to stop this."
Jack made a smirk. "Time to play..." he said. He started hacking into the software of the computer to get acces to all the information of it. He knew hacking ADAM would be almost impossible, so he decided to see what he was made of, hoping he wasn't detected. He was going to get payed a lot for that information
The terminal that contained ADAM began to flicker into life, and the people into the room began to eagerly watch in anticipation. The enormous terminal screen began to flicker online. This was the greatest moment of the 21st century, this is where it will all begin. Time until activation: 30 seconds
He sat closer to the TV, hoping nothing went wrong. Like that movie the Mist by Stephen King, something was bound to happen. He grabbed another rice roll and began to eat it, its sweet and sourness filling his mouth, Milan enjoyed it very much. He had his katana beside him along with two shurrikens, just incase anyone attacked him from behind...
Alvin leaned back in his chair and took a deep breath, watching the computer and ADAM carefully as the timer counted down.
The computer started acting a bit strange and suddenly all files where being moved into... somewhere. Jack smirked as he saw that the files started to arrive to him.
Soon, the timer went to zero and the lights went dim for a moment. Then all of a sudden, the terminal flickered to life. The "face" on the terminal was made up of yellow lines of code going back and forth, however, it was still something.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Alvin shouted as he learned forward, observing the screen as code moved across it. "Adrian, check this out!" he said as waved his compatriot over.
(And nobody noticed they were being hacked. *sighs*) The files finally finished arriving to Jack, but they were highly encripted. "I'll check that later." After a moment he turned to see the security camaras and was impressed by what he saw.
The terminal flickered to life before the "face" lit up brightly. It was question time, just as everyone went into a frenzy. "ADAM.....can you hear me" A scientist said, as a deafening silence went across the room. Soon enough, a response occurred. "Yes....."
Milan was breathless, he could not eat another rice roll nor take a bite out of another one. It was amazing, yet, terrifying. Such advancements in human technology was uncommon, he gave a trembling sigh.
