So i just decided to download skype for the heck of it, and as far as i can tell, my mic doesn't work lol... I am such a technophobe when it comes to setting up this stuff properly XD
I followed the help page on the Skype website to the letter. And as far as i can tell, all the settings on my computer are properly set as well, but whenever i try to record something, it doesn't capture my voice. Edit: When i try to make a test call, it says "problem with recording device", but like i said, everything should be set properly.
if you're using windows 7 or vista, try checking if your mic is recodnized and working properly in windows itself. because skype usually just pulls up window's hardware settings.
My microphone was working just now, and now it's not working anymore. I didn't change anything about the settings. It just suddenly started working, then it stopped again... (also, when it was working, i could hear myself, not sure if it should do that) Test calls also work now, but i still can't record my own voice. EDIT: Okay, i THINK i got it working now. I don't know exactly how i did it, but it works. There's still the issue of me hearing my own voice through my headphones though.
All the time while my microphone is turned on, actually. Also, feel free to add me. :derpe: <--------------------
Oh well, i guess i can live with the second voice. Hearing voices inside my head is fun! :Trollestia: edit: all problems solved now. Thanks for the help guys. :derpe:
did you realize that second voice you heard was just a parrot sitting in your computer talking back to you?
I should probably specify this now. For the safety of your own innocence, it's best to only add me if you're at least 16-17+. I don't mean offense or anything, but conversations when there's an age gap of 10 years or more (i'm 24) tends to lead to awkwardness. Especially with me. :derpe:
Check to see if you have Stereo Mix enabled (in this case, you want it disabled). Also: Recording Devices --> Microphone -> Properties -> Listen [Tab] --> Make sure "Listen to this device" is unchecked.
I think you accidently skipped the post that said i managed to solve it already. :derpe: But yeah, what you just said was indeed the problem. "Listen to this device" was still checked.
