Has it been confirmed whether the raving lunatic who took the episodes off Youtube was a real Hasbro employee, or a troll? Because I waited till Friday only to find that the show times have changed and that I already missed it. When is it on and what channel? Could a fellow citizen of British Columbia tell me?
Was very, very likely just a troll. Hasbro can't really say anything about it because, well, I'm pretty sure they can't just say "Oh yeah, we're okay with episodes being online." Anyway, episodes are being re-uploaded if you're talking about Season 1 and so far Season 2 episodes are being uploaded every Saturday within at least a few hours of the episode airing. ^_^ If you want to catch it on television here in Canada, it should be on Treehouse TV. EDIT: I can't say what day, though. And they haven't been airing Season Two yet as far as I know. :/
Hasbro actually likes the free advertisement = More $$$ for them. The one that was reporting all the videos was a fake named "Habsro" <- Simple Typo. Nuff' Said.
Hasbro is very well aware of youtube episodes, torrents, megaupload links, and pony archive. if they wanted to, they would take mlp down long time ago. it was just some troll.
Those online episodes have done wonders for increasing the ranks of fandom/bronyism. Hasbro would be VERY foolish to have them taken down, and they know that. More fans means more watching the new episodes which means more advertising revenue. And anyone who REALLY wants to watch episodes over and over again is very likely to buy the DVD set anyway, even if the episodes are continually available on the internet.
^This. As great as watching episodes online is, DVDs would be 20% cooler a lot more...I'm not sure how to put it...satisfying, maybe? Plus they'd probably be good quality.
DVDs and TV screens are always more fun than on a computer. Or at least, it is for me, as someone who spends my time on the computer, and avoids and dislikes the TV.
"Haters gonna hate. Trolls gonna troll. Etc." I was suspicious of that name because it was spelled "Habsro," but I just thought it was actually them, except they didn't pay attention to their grammar. Until, of course, a friend of mine stepped in and told me that it was a fake account, and they were flagging/reporting the videos. I was then realizing that if Hasbro hated advertisement, and took down their videos as a result; where would their profits go? I mean, why in the world would they want to take down the videos on YouTube, that could well enough be putting more money in their pockets? That just doesn't make sense to me... I'm happy to see that the episodes are being re-uploaded, at least I can enjoy the show while I'm away from home now. ( School, traveling, etc. ) But that leads me to something..... what if... nevermind.
There's a site out there, it has a Legal Threats Page, this page doesn't contain Hasbro. (Or Habsro for that matter). (It does however contain Microsoft and Apple, which goes to show how threatening these threats truly are.) This leads me to believe Hasbro isn't concerned with free advertising/propaganda.
Ew, DVDs... I demand Blu-ray! :derpe: ...and yes, Hasbro likes the free advertisement as it is making them filthy rich, so to speak. :derpe:
^ Eww. Bluray. I demand digital 768kpbs video bit rate 320kbps audio bit rate XViD 1080p encoded MKV files.
A post arrives; its post-marked for today, but made 4 days ago: Why though? MKV has a very good compression algorithm, and can handle multiple parallel video and audio streams, as well as have subtitles encoded into the file.
Those are all things I haven't touched, though. I'm no video editor and it's just for recording videos and slapping some music onto them. This is as complicated as it gets in my case: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xzQtj4HydI I stick to H.264 if I can, since it's very widely accepted and maintains decent quality.
This post was written 4 days ago, but post-marked to show up to-day: I share an opinion with above statement.
Maybe the people who took down the videos were probably doing it as a joke, just like when the Sesame Street Youtube channel was hacked.
