Or we could just machine gun the same sites out again with something changed so it would have to be reviewed...
SOPA on the rise again? All I need to know is when we do another stupid Internet blackout day. My problem with SOPA is all the attention that it gets. It's too extreme of a bill for it to actually pass, even considering the fact that Congress never really does anything noticeable anyway. SOPA is frightening, yes, but that's it's downfall. It's too frightening to people to actually pass.
*facedesk* By Celestia's G-string, what could they possibly think will be accomplished with this? All they appear to be doing is irritating the entire world in one stroke. Honestly, this doesn't seem any more likely now that the internet knows about it. It's almost insane!
Why would it affect deviantArt? dA is artists posting their own copyrighted work for all to see, I don't think that has anything to do with SOPA. And even if it did pass, I'm pretty sure people would appeal it in the Supreme Court and win. The U.S. can't police the entire world, it simply isn't possible. ...even though they do a damned good job at trying.
At the current rate, there will be more than 100000 signatures in ~3-4 days, though it will most likely be less. Boy, that escalated quickly.
It's the US Government. Pissing off the world is what they do. :/ And honestly, SOPA is the least of our worries...
SOPA's Back ? The only reason the bill did not pass last year was because it was an election year. If it did pass, which there is a very likely chance it never will, Obama's popularity would have hit rock bottom, almost literally. This year, not an election, so the gloves are off for him. He doesn't care anymore, he might not even read what he's signing. Did the US government not learn that last time? Did i ever mention that if it did pass, there would be Riots. Everywhere ?
Signed. Now i can say bull**** about SOPA everywhere and make others sign this. They won't win. For if they do, Canada will be the second one to approve of SOPA...
Sopa seems to be focusing on making unauthorized streaming a felony. which basically means sites like livestream, twitch and justin.tv will all probably be banned. also I have two videos to also explain sopa. Well in a nutshell it's just an overly strict bill on copyright. (On paper anyway. The bill itself is vague on purpose and allows ISP to monitor packet flow, etc. They already do that anyway. Now it just a makes it "official". They'll want to use it to the fullest extent on everyone I guarantee you that). It sucks don't get me wrong, it's just what will come next is what worries me more. Because they won't want to stop there. We already are dealing with unconstitutional surveillance and data collection (PRISM). It won't ever stop no matter how much we protest. Well, considering Congress is mostly old white dudes who don't even know what the internet is, I wouldn't be so sure.
