I've noticed these little gem things below my name. I gained 2 today... What purpose do they serve? (my sig suits this thread )
Gems = Reputation. The more you have doesn't really actually represent your actual reputation to the forum. It's just some value. Anyways, you can give +rep to people who you think deserve it. To give +rep you can press the jewel box, besides the Royal guard icon under each person's post to give +rep to that person. ______ EDIT: Purple Gems = Each gem is every 5 points. Starting from 10(Initial), 15, 20, 25, 30 Green Gems = Each gem is every 10 points. Starting from 40, 50, 60, etc... Red Gems = 15(?) points. Well, I understand a bit about the rep system. Kinda... Also, the +rep power depends on the number of posts. Normally people under 1,000 posts can give away 1 +rep point. People such as me with 5,000-5,999 posts can give away 6. So basically every thousand posts, give you an extra rep point to add to your initial one point. Which means since I give away 6 points, I need to give it away to people who really REALLY deserve rep. I can't just willingly give away rep to everyone. ____ You can check how many rep points you have by checking your profile. And the algorithm for rep is stupidly confusing. I'm still trying to piece together how many points someone actually needs to get a gem. And how many points people get for getting +reped. It doesn't seem to be very linear. At all.

It's just so people can show how much they appreciate what another posts. The more rep you have, the more rep you can give away. Someone must've really liked what you posted if you already have 4 purple gems. EDIT: Ignore what I said about giving more rep, listen to DRD.
And the times when you don't actually get points from people giving you rep works how? Is there a pattern to it?
Actually it's posts-wise, IIRC. Depending on the value of your post, such as you. With 4,474. 4 (That value) + 1 = 5 Rep points, you can give away. I wasn't the one who found this out or assume this is how they scale points, someone told me about this on Vent one day. (Probably ePONYmous or Snowy.) Yeah, neutral rep happens when either. -They are a new person probably -Low amount of posts such as 0. (Preventing easy Rep. to some other.) -Bug(?) I'm not sure, this probably is a pattern to how they give/rank reputation.
Does anypony know any good raids/pugs to grind rep with EP Forums. Need for ach [Everypony Likes Me!] and for heroics. (WoW speak)
Depends how you would want to "grind rep" Post TL;DR posts, real reputable posts, be a funny person, and many other ways to get rep.
Grind rep = Wade through endless hordes of monsters slaying them mercilessly for the simple benefit of factions liking you more.
Oh that type of rep. I forgot about that on WoW. I really haven't been playing any MMORPG's in a while. But yeah, those are ways to get reputation on the forums. Unlike grinding on MMO's which take a painstaking amount of time, like I used to do. Especially with leveling on some MMO's... had to use 2x EXP item on a Double EXP day, just to grind levels. Then I stopped playing MMO's for a long time.
Mhm. I remember Halo 3. I stopped playing because I could get my highest skill in team sniper any higher. No, I mean it was pretty much impossible, the bulk of the other players didn't have a high enough skill in team snipers to get me higher than 47. (Out of 50). Also having to press the A button on my controller to open my fridge. I think the scare factor made me stop.
Rep: I have no desire to know how it works, I just like the idea of meat gems. DanSze's Simple guide to rep! Step 1) See post you like? Press the jewel box! Step 2) Type in reason, then give rep. Step 3) There is no step 3! As for neutral rep, IIRC, if you give out rep too quickly, or gain it to quickly, it neutralizes it some. It was explained in some ancient post, but I forget.
That ain't boost users to simply scrap as many gems they can? (pointed out by one with 0.0 rep) Step 1 ???? Step 2 ???? Step 3 ???? Step 4 Profit!
