Just watched a re-run of "Secret of My Excess" and something struck me. As Spike continued to grow and grow Twilight took him to experts to try to get a diagnosis. The only one with any idea was Zecora and said that as a Dragon's greed grows, so will the dragon. Does this suggest that as long as Spike keeps greed under control and doesn't hoard that he will remain the form of a baby dragon? I've noticed a lot of fan-fiction that doesn't follow this rule.
Interesting i would guess he would, But he might still age but be a baby if that makes any sense. Or he could grow alot slower, Or he will always be a baby and never die. Any way that's very interesting and I've thought that same thing!
Dragon Quest kinda contradicts that though. You know, with the teenage and adult dragon differences. Actually, info on the Dragons seems to reset between different writers. >.> Why would the school of magic's exam be to hatch a dragon if they had no idea what they could do?
That's a very good question. I've read some fics that suggested that the dragon egg test was kind of like the test in Star Trek that was always supposed to be failed and was designed to test other qualities in the student instead. Except that in this case, the raw magic ability (brought on by the sonic rainboom) allowed the egg to hatch.
Hmm... fishy. I don't buy it. :derpe: Since she not only hatched it but ended up making him really large, and turned her parents into... inanimate objects. I think she went far beyond the normal qualification.
Well I don't know what to think about this because we barely know anything about dragons in MLP FiM in general except that they're greedy, like to hoard gems and collect treasure and that they like to eat gems that's really all that any of us know about dragons in MLP FiM. Oh yeah and they breathe fire to but yeah I think you get the idea.
I think by grow Zechora meant that literally. Spike will still age, emotionally/physically/mentally but he will remain that size unless he participates in his predisposition to hoard and greed objects.
We don't know enough about Dragons to say what will or won't happen to Spike, heck we don't even know what type of dragon spike is! Its obvious he's from a different clan then the winged dragons more commonly found in Equestria. I really hope we lear about his heritage someday. But yeah as of now one thing we do know is an excess of Greed can cause dragons *most likely of any kind* to have rabid growth. Weather they will also grow naturally but more slowly without or if there is another urge/emotion that can cause spike to grow into a more noble form is unknown to us as of now. But again hopefully this will be further explored in the future. All we can do is merely wait & see what happens to the little guy.
