If you've seen the spoilers, you know what's going on. If you don't, I'll fill you in. Twilight Sparkle is about to become an alicorn. Feel free to give your opinion on this in the poll. (IMPORTANT: I'm starting this thread because I'm making a fan-inspired analysis of this change in the show. I am trying to find out what some other bronies/pegasisters think about this topic, and: -IF you want to have your thoughts known the the analysis I am making, then please leave a comment stating your opinion - I'll see if I can tie it into the Twilight Sparkle princess review as I'm writing it now. I will quote you as a source if you want, or you can say that you want to be left as an anonymous source on everypony.com. I think it's a great idea. Like they said before, little girls dream of being a Princess, so they're doing that to appeal to the younger audience. However, we don't know what will happen in the episode. We don't know if it will be permanent or not, and whether it affects Twilight's studies in Ponyville with her friends. It could be Twilight under pressure from becoming a Princess, or a magical mishap. (Keep in mind the plot details about Twilight accidentally changing the destinies of her friends.) Another reason I think it's a good idea is because writers need to change things to freshen the program. We're not getting a new villain (possibly), but we're getting such a dramatic change in a character's life. It has the potential for character development not just for Twilight, but her friends as well. The writers have done a great job when it comes to Season Finales, and I'm sure I'll be satisfied with the end result. If not, then the internet might die.
I'm fine I trust the writers, their doing the best with the mandates Hasbro gives them, and as long as Twilight doesn't hog ALL of season 4, and we still get some fun Dash, AJ, Flutes & Crusaders episodes, i'm good!
Absolutely not. My approval of ascending Twilight is rock bottom. I swear, I will slap someone if it's permanent
Alright, I finished writing the article. It's a downloadable word document on deviantart now (because I couldn't figure out how to upload it as a story on deviantart for beans). I'll make a thread for it in the fanfiction section of this forum.
Pretty much this for me... The whole situation just sounds meh to me. I hope they don't make it ridiculous, but I'm a skeptical pony, regardless of how good last season's finale was.

I agree with Mike, Jhera and Flash. I think Twilight Alicorn is bad idea (unless if it's part of major mess up (which would make sense with official synopsis), and everything gets back to normal at the end). Also, Twilight becoming permanently princess would change the whole mlp completely. Honestly, with twi princes permenantly, I don't see much room for easy going fun stories (specially not something like Lesson Zero, or It's about Time), unless a) new episodes would be mane 6 with no twi, or b) all new episodes are CMC (while I love CMC episodes, we need mane 6 episodes as well). one more big questions: what happens to spike then? Where do they live? Ponyville? Whole series moves to Canterlot? I've talked to Croatia bronies as well about the topic (well, there was discussion going on in skype group before I came online, so I read it), and basically everyone thinks it's bad idea, unless one of 2 scenarios happen (since official synopsis says that twilight by accident switches cutie marks and destinies and has to write her own magic) : scenario 1 (makes more sense): Twilight accidentally switches cutie marks and destinies with one of princesses in the beginning of episode, and making herself alicorn, and one of princess unicorn. Trough the episode she has to write her own magic to correct her mess-up, but in mean time, she has to take over royal duties (just temporary). At end of episode, she gets magic right and returns powers and wings to one of princesses, and becomes regular unicorn again. (basically, she becomes princess for a day(or few days)) scenario 2 (makes less sense, but it scopes with official toy): as we know that there's some toy called newborn Princess Sklya, she is daughter of Cadence and Shining Armor, and being part of royal family, is one that should take over throne from Celestia and Luna. However, since Shining Armor is a unicorn, Skyla is born as unicorn. Now Twilight has to use her magic to give her wings and make her alicorn, but, by accident gives wings to herself (and messes up cutie marks in process). In the end of episode she gets everything right, and Skyla is new princess. scenario 3 (that everyone is afraid of): Twilight messes up cutie marks, and writes her own magic, and in the end of episode, as reward for writing her own magic, gets to be an alicorn permanently Hopefully scenario 1 or 2 are correct or something else that we (Croatia Bronies) didn't predict. I hope that it'd be same situation as A Canterlot Wedding episode, where most of people expected rather boring and namby-pamby episode, and got great unpredicted episode.
I would rather her stay the same, but I'll give Alicorn Twilight a chance. (Though, if the whole thing's temporary, then I wouldn't mind. If permanent...well, will take time to get used to it.)
Yeah, I agree with the majority of you that alicorn Twilight is going to bring some less-than-desirable consequences for Twilight as a character. I've posted a thread in the fanfiction section with the link to the deviantart page which has the word document for the satirical shock article I made if any of you are interested. edit: it's basically an over-the-top word document designed to look like something out of a newspaper which is supposed to reflect the way some fans may take this change. it won't be an easy pill to swallow for some.
Voted new Twilight. I doubt it'll be permanent, but if it is, it'll be an interesting change for the show.
