With all the controversy about how to take the new alicorn twilight... what are your thoughts on her now if you've watched the new episode? I guess I can live with it, since it seems like an awesome but cliche hybrid kind of thing to me. Any thoughts?
Its obvious this episode was made to be the series finale when it was origionally written, I bet they didn't know weather they were going to get a 4th season or not, thus the reason they spent so much of season 3 very loosely wrapping up plot points, so it could work as an ambigous last season if need be, but now with season 4 it will be interesting to see where they go with things from here. It could turn out to be even more awesome then before or it could just me meh, just have to wait & see.
I can't shake the feeling that from now one, the rest of the mane six will be considered second-class compared to Twilight. All that bowing down isn't going to help, at least to me personally. Even if they adress it in the show, Twilight is still going to appear as more important then the rest. I liked it better when she had so much to learn, but I'll wait until season 4 comes knocking to see.
She has wings. Am I supposed to be upset? She's already one of the most powerful unicorn's in Equestria, except now she can fly. She might have a few more princess duties, but I'm sure Twilight isn't the kind of pony who would look down on her friends as not being equals. Friendship is Magic after all. Adventures will be exactly the same, she just can fly now. #notupset
I can't help but agree with this statement - as much as alicorn twilight could be cool in the long run, now she's always going to be better than her friends.
I'm very ambivalent towards alicorn Twilight, though seeing all of her friends bowing down to her did put me off a bit. About the only thing really good I could see coming out of this is if during the season 4 finale, Twilight gave up her wings and princess-hood in order to save her friends (or something). That would be an amazing episode.
I was thinking the same thing, Its obvious Tia has been training Twilight to become an Alicorn for a reason, not to far fetched to think its to fight some future big bad where she'll have to give it all she's got to defeat, possibly losing her magical powers in the process. Cause at this point I won't put anything past Celestia, she puts on a good face, but lets face it, everyone, even her family are nothing but tools for her grand schemes. Sure they may be for the good of all, but that doesn't change the fact Celestia uses people, er ponies. Twilight is just another tool to be used when the time is right, having wings doesn't change that no matter what Tia says. Just you wait, theres something bigger behind all this, I can feel it in my bones!
This. Yeah, Twilight won't look down on her friends or anything, but I can't help but feel they will no longer be perceived as equals. The bowing part definitely did not help. I guess we'll have to see how it all plays out. You're probably very correct about that, it did seem as if it was a show finale as I was watching it. They prolly made it that way just in case it didn't get renewed for another season.
Im in to what the other says.. That she seems more importan now... First I thougt she should dicline being a princess, just because she wanted to be a ordinare pony in ponyville with her friends.. I dont see how I can enjoy shes being in a higher position and been all "Im a princess, I have everything it takes"... I loved her as a student, a girl that love learning and gets crazy when things go wrong..
well, when she got wings she stayed herself, but this whole thing kinda puts her in position where she's more important than other ponies (the whole bowing thing didn't really help). Quoting Twilight Sparkle herself from Sweet and Elite: "This dress is so simple, so practical, like me!" (aka, she wants to be simple and practical pony). With that out of the way, now let's look what intelligence we have: we know that whole alicorn thing isn't over. Megan McCarty said that part 2 and 3 of season 3 finale will be premiere of season 4 (aka, this episode was written as 3 prater, and we're basically left on a cliffhanger). Other intel says that whole alicorn thing will be "resolved" in season 4 (probably premiere). Also, Daniel Ingram said that if we thought that this was big, wait till we see what happens in season 4.
Depends on how you view the bowing. Celestia did it to, so it could be perceived as a congratulatory gesture for their friend. Also when you think about the Mane Six's relationship with Cadence, most of the time the only reason we recognize her as a princess is because of the title, and the fact she is an Alicorn. Also, how much you wanna bet dollars to donuts that one of the FIRST episodes of Season 4 will be an episode regarding how the rest of the Mane 6 adapting to Twilight's new role? That is not my fanon, that just seems like the sort of thing they would do.
Now that I think about it... This. Are they going to have to bow to her every time she is on screen? That will get tedious... Also, write a spell, become an alicorn? How many spells did Starswirl the Bearded write before he didn't complete that one? What? Sorry dude, you're a guy so screw you no royalty! :Trollestia:
Then the question becomes - what next? The show's premise is about Twilight learning about the values of friendship with her friends. If she's an alicorn princess, that implies that she's learned everything she needs to know, which means the goal of the plot has been fulfilled. I know the writers can try to keep the show going, but I can't help but feel that this pretty much ended the series, be there a fourth season or not. I mean, I'll still watch the fourth season, but still.
Er well, there was the specific passage where Twilight is in that "Time and spacey" universe with Celestia, and Twilight asks if she was still going to Celestia's student. Celestia said she still would be, but in a different capacity than she was before: Ergo being a princess. Also bear in mind that the topic of Friendship is a very vague one. I mean, when you think of it, is that really something that anybody ever stops learning? I mean, we do know that the Mane Six as a collective learned a lot about friendship so far. If you think about it, Twilight's change in status may set the stage to better teach certain lessons, or emphasis previous lessons. Of course that's just the other side to consider. Let your opinion be your own.
Don't know why everyone is getting raged out from this episode. I loved it so much, that I want more. I'm happy she is now an Alicorn. I'm sure she will never put her new work as a princess towards her friends. She is still the same, but a princess and wings. Season 4 is coming and Now I can't wait for that. I want to see what new adventures await us for the time being. P.s. I did love the memory lane viewing. Shows how far we come from this fandom and it's like looking at old memories. From being part of it from Nov 2010 to 2013, I can say I couldn't be more happier to be part of it.
The bow was a little awkward but I'm sure the others wouldn't have done it if they hadn't already known that their friend was somepony special. I'm sure Sparky will beg them to quit doing it though.
What if it all ends up being a dream? I mean if enough people don't like the idea, it may end up that way. I mean it's a great idea, I just don't think the show should get to that climax quite yet. They still have quite a few things they could make good life lessons out of. Friendship lessons as well. All in all, I don't think the show is quite ready yet.
Depends on whether or not they address this princess thing head-on. Like it or not, Twilight has attained a new rank in the world of Equestria now. I don't really want the show to go back to the status quo like nothing happened.
Yeah, It would seem kind of awkward changing everything back now. Plus I just don't like the idea of the writers buckling to the 'Doomsayers'. Bad things happen when you throw the fans too many bones. Also 'Doomsayers' have a tendency to paint it like the whole fandom stands behind them on something (In this case, Twilicorn) I'll just defer to something Bill Cosby said: 'I don't know the secret to success, but I do know the secret to failure is trying to please everybody'
