Dear Everypony Radio Forums I really want to keep The Brony Blog going. http://www.thebronyblog.com/ But school commitments, sickness and work on other pony related fan work, is making it to difficult for me to keep up with it. I detail the reasons in this thread, http://www.everypony.com/forums/showthread.php?1226-Acting-first-thinking-later. I have let an opportunity like this slip by once before and I don't want to let it happen again. I am too busy to continue posting everyday on this. I have decided it would be in my best interest to recruit some writers to write articles reviewing PMVs, Music, Fanfictions, Games and others. While what I have the most fun writing about is discussions about the brony culture and community in general and how awesome the fandom is. I am starting to find the reviews difficult to enjoy writing and need to take a temporary break from them. So I am asking for anypony that is interested to PM me or post on my thread if they would like to become a writer for the blog. I will only pick a few, I'm not sure how many yet, it depends on how regularly people can commit to posting, Please be honest about this. I aim to bring this blog back to daily posts. So it depends on how the math can work out. So please make your applications here or in a PM with links to writing work you have done before, or if you don't have any sell yourself to me. Of course working on the Blog will be voluntary and unpaid. But if I ever decide to start trying to make revenue out of it, I would make sure everyone involved gets their due. But I am making no promises that I will ever put ads or donation buttons on it, depending how strong my conscience is. For those considering this. I have come up with a rough plan of how such a collaboration would work. You would get rights to log into the blog and post scheduled posts, then I will date the posts with an automatic release date. So if you send me 3 posts in one day, the first would probably get posted if it's at the front of the queue and then the next two will be scheduled for another date most likely after several other writers have had their posts published. If you are posting something that is breaking news, it will likely be slotted into a higher priority place in the queue. Post genres would also be rotated to keep the blog varied ie (PMV, Fanfiction, Music, Game, PMV, Fanfiction, Episode review etc...) I also plan to have my own shot-gunned list that writers will not be able to write articles about because I wanna do it. For example I am already halfway through a Stare Master review and have dibs on it. I would also really appreciate web designers or artist that could help make the site look like more then just the blogger template and use original images, rather then google image search ones. I think it is time to upgrade to having what EQD does, buttons at the top that filter out the post topics you want to ignore. If anyone has a particular kind of review or other topic they would like to specialise in let me know, we may be able to just end up with a writer to fill each part of the fandom they are most enthused with. So I think that covers it all, feel free to ask questions. Also if you know anypony outside this community who may be interested, feel free the have them send an application to my email setzertrancer@hotmail.com With your help let's try and make this the next big pony site. Applications plan to close on Monday 12th of September, if I get very few applicants, I may extend it. I may even recruit one at a time over a longer period. Your Faithful Forum Member, Setzertrancer (aka Fluttertrance)
ill admit it,im not the best brony,i dont have any toys,or shirts,or even custom ponies, but i really enjoy this culture, and i wouldnt mind having a go
Lol merchandise has nothing to do with how good a brony you are, you know what I have, 1 shirt. That is probably all I will be able to afford for at least 6 months.
Hmmm....this interests me....however, I will have to see if I have any time at all to devote to this....I'll get back to you on that.... *imagines a blog where the owner and a writer both love Fluttershy immensely. Hijinks galore!*
Yay! I win for having the most merchandise! > Anyways on to the topic, I would like to work for the blog as well but I have full time education and such to do also. I wish you the best of luck on find members to help out and make TheBronyBlog a daily thing. (Not to mention I would review or talk about a ton of Rainbow Dash stuff...lol.) :derpe:
I was in Journalism back in High School, but I don't know if that counts. I'd like to be a part of this, but I understand if I don't even get a second thought at this. @ DRD: My 8 pony shirts are on the way. Can you beat that?
I still have more merch. Even though I have 5 shirts, I have alot of extra MLP goodies. Not just shirts or figures. :derpe:
i have an entire my little pony dress up item set from disney world, wich is no longer available,so i can dress my ponies in them,u jelly?
Well, just saying tht while I'd love to help, I have to go to school, as well... But instead of searching for a full-time helper, why not just ask for help from everypony every now and then, so it's not so difficult, and there's more diversity in your blog's posts? I'd be more than willing to spend some time, every now and then making a article then. But not everyday... just once in a while though, as I don't have the ability to make a larger commitment.
I need to rummage through my old PC this weekend and gut it for parts. Back when I was still in college (before dropping out), I did a few game reviews and hardware reviews for the campus news paper. It was all done in Open Office at the time so no idea if Office 2010 will be nice enough to save the format. Either way, I don't have Open Office on this PC so any files I do have will either be in Word 2010 or, well, the universal note pad. In any case, I don't have any publications online but I can slip them your way via email. Currently, I work usually between 5am and 3pm and really nothing else too pressing. I do have quite a bit of spare time to toy with and if you like my work, I'd be more than happy to help out.
I do want a few dedicated people, but my dedicated I mean like one or maybe two articles a week. If I open this to everypony, I will kind of lose ownership of it I think. I may need to put a bit more thought into how this will work. I have a question for you all do you honestly find mine or anyone else's text reviews about PMVs, Music, episodes or fanfiction entertaining to read, or should I just make the blog entirely talking in further detail and giving opinions on Brony news and discussing the community. Reviews are just starting to feel stale, especially music, I mean there isn't all that much you can say about a short song and when I go into detail about the instruments used, the melody and the lyrics, does it get boring? Episode reviews I think to have more potential it's just that I think people would rather just listen to commentaries. Anyway suggestions as to what direction the blog should go are welcome.
Take my opinion for what it's worth but the community does have a seemingly large number of audiophiles around and it's introducing more and more to the genre. I've even taken a fondness to it myself after all the PMVs out there. I think leaving the music reviews in might help sway more to the genre. In the worst case scenario, if you're in a bind for time, I think this would make for some quick substance. As far as the reviews go, I suggest mixing things up by doing a little bit of everything depending on the amount of help you're going for. Divide things things up between whatever folks you get to help.
Thanks everypony who applied I will make my decision and get things ready for the blog to continue tomorrow night or the night after. Very busy on some pony projects at the moment. I can't let a good idea fizzle out.
